The Old Lock Up Gallery is excited to announce the opening of it’s inaugural Secret Postcard Show – a fundraising show for the future development of the gallery and to raise money for Arts Emergency – Who help talented students from under-represented backgrounds overcome inspirational and practical barriers to flourish as critical, creative adults.
This year’s Wirksworth Festival is just around the corner. From 8 - 24 September an exciting and eclectic line up of contemporary arts of every kind come to the Derbyshire Dales town.
The Art & Architecture Trail kicks things off on the opening weekend (9 - 10 Sept) and is followed by a full programme of performance and workshops, including live music such as contemporary folk and jazz, dance, mystical story telling, craft courses and more.
Two Pride Park companies have pledged their support for Derby’s next major sporting event.
Geldards solicitors and Document Network Services (DNS) will sponsor the North Derbyshire Challenge cycle sportive on Sunday September 17 organised by Cycle Derby and HUUB Events.
Geldards will sponsor the Team Challenge. This is an opportunity for up to ten cyclists to work together in an attempt to travel the greater distance. The company will also host a hospitality area at Markeaton Park with exclusive access for Business Challenge riders throughout the day.
Derby LIVE and Little Wolf Entertainment are delighted to announce that Derby-born Gwen Taylor will be playing the Enchantress in this year’s spectacular family pantomime. The enchanting French musical ‘tale as old as time’, Beauty and the Beast will be staged at Derby Arena from Tuesday 5 to Sunday 31 December 2017.
The event is will take place inside a cave in Matlock Bath and will premiere two new compositions by experimental classical composer Eliane Radigue and electronic producer Lee Gamble. The music will be performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra and broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Folk tunes, classical gems and even music played from rooftops around the Cathedral are just some of the highlights of Sinfonia Viva’s four-week Autumn Derby Residency.
Grammy-nominated Sinfonia Viva, the East Midlands’ only professional orchestra, will mark the climax of its 35th anniversary year with the series of performances which showcase the Orchestra’s innovative diversity.
Repton Schools has published details of this year’s Concert Series which brings high calibre musicians normally seen at top venues into Derbyshire for all to enjoy.
The full list of concerts, which unless otherwise stated all take place on Wednesdays at 7.45pm in Repton Music School, off Tanners Lane, Repton, Derbyshire is as follows:
