One Day Creative Education are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and highly passionate Creative Education Workshop facilitators to join our team. You will be delivering a range of creative and educational drama and dance workshops in schools across your region in the UK.

Live & Local announces its new Spring 2022 season of professional performances in community venues across Derbyshire: exciting theatre, enthralling, award-winning music and laugh-out-loud comedy. 

Almost two years since their last full season of shows was launched, Live & Local continues to support local volunteers to bring exciting and awe-inspiring shows to a village hall or community venue near you.

Call out to all Derbyshire Artists!

Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity (DRS) and Derby Community Arts Network (Derby CAN) are working together to host a silent auction in June 2022. Donations from artists will be exhibited at a city location and on line and prospective buyers will make their bids electronically, the highest bidder claiming the work.

The Darley Park Weekender returns this August bank holiday with a mix of music and family events. After a successful first year hosting three days of family entertainment, the beautiful surroundings and natural amphitheatre of Darley Park will again host a weekend of music for everyone to enjoy.

Family and friends can expect a weekend to remember, so grab your deckchair, picnic blankets and refreshments to join the party of the summer.

Artists are being invited to submit their work for the opportunity to be shown in the award winning Harley Gallery, in Nottinghamshire. 

The Harley Open Exhibition is a biennial competition which attracts an impressive range of  artists.  

Previous exhibitions have include work by well known names such as Olivier Leger, Chris  Eckersley, Susan Isaac and Joanna Whittle - but entries are not restricted to established  artists.  

BUXTON INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES THEIR '22 SEASON

 

Buxton International Festival’s northern lights shine brighter than ever this summer with 17 days of operas, concerts, a musical, an oratorio, books, walks, lifestyle events, and a brand-new jazz programme, providing entertainment from morning ‘til night in the heart of Derbyshire’s Peak District between 7 and 24 July 2022.  Alongside the Festival’s schedule of world-class live performances across its five venues, there is an emphasis on participatory events this year with lively audience debates as well as opportunities to sing, dance and walk.

 

HELPING THE HELPERS, Dr Melanie Hani

Dr Melanie Hani has been appointed as Derbyshire County Council's Public Health Well-Being Counsellor. Her role is to support the well-being and mental health of those working or volunteering in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors.

Summer Outdoor Theatre & Cinema Season returns for 2022

 

The ever-popular Outdoor Theatre and Cinema season will be returning to the picturesque surroundings of Markeaton Park in July 2022.

 

Derby LIVE and Derby Parks will be bringing audiences a double bill of Shakespeare from Oddsocks Theatre and Derby Shakespeare Company, two great interactive performances perfect for children with Babbling Vagabonds and Pop Up Theatre, and showings of award-winning films.

 

New Mills artist is a double winner!

Artist and printmaker Joanna Allen from New Mills, who won Buxton Fringe’s design competition for the 2018 programme cover, has found herself celebrating again having scooped first prize in the festival’s latest cover art contest.

Derby Ram Trail report shows culture fundamental to city recovery

A new report on the Derby Ram Trail has been published by Derby Museums this week, detailing the project’s positive impact on the city’s recovery following lockdown. 

Launched in May 2021, in the same month as the new Museum of Making, the Derby Ram Trail was delivered by Derby Museums in partnership with Wild in Art, presenting partner Derby’s Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) and trail partner St Peters Quarter BID as the city emerged from the final Covid lockdown.
