SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK

High Peak Community Arts is excited to be presenting an outdoor performance of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night in the beautiful High Lea Park, New Mills, on Sunday September 24th 2017, 4-6pm.

The play will be performed by the renowned acting company The Three Inch Fools.

The Three Inch Fools are five actors who, with all manner of musical instruments, present an inventive take on Shakespeare’s rib-ticklingly good comedy of old fashioned trickery and mistaken identity.

News from Purple and Grey

Purple and Grey is in holiday mode but our Art Group did meet at Tansley Village Hall last week where I ran a workshop.  We have a lovely friendly bunch of artists of all abilities and have many laughs.  Our next Art Group is on Wednesday 27 Sept 10.30-12.30 and it's £4.95 with lots of free tea and coffee.  New members welcome. 

Kenton Cool comes to Derby's Guildhall Theatre

Derby LIVE is proud to announce that Kenton Cool will be visiting the Derby LIVE’s Guildhall Theatre.

Kenton’s obsession with climbing developed at school, in the Scouts and was furthered at the University of Leeds. In 1996 he suffered a fall from a rock face in North Wales and shattered both heel bones, he was told he’d never walk unaided again. One Man’s Everest is his incredible story.

Derby LIVE Drama in September

September is set to be a stellar month at Derby LIVE for the drama enthusiast, who can look forward to a number of great productions at the Guildhall Theatre. From emotional musicals to chilling horror stories, there is something for everyone to enjoy this month.

Derby Arboretum - Lark in the Park

On Saturday 2nd September, the Friends of Derby Arboretum is holding its annual celebration of summer with its Lark in the Park. There will be loads of stalls, entertainment and fun activities. The Star tent stage will have continuous performances, this year in collaboration with Furthest-from-the-Sea, Music Comedy and Arts. Local entertainment, arts and crafts are the main themes running through this event. It's free and caters for all age groups. There will be a second performance tent with a magician, storytelling and acoustic music.

Cara Dillon in Buxton in September

Cara Dillon admirers and new fans are in for a treat when this extraordinary Irish singer returns with her solo album at Buxton Opera House.

It’s been five years since the world last heard from Cara. Taking time off to embrace motherhood and combat serious illness, she retreated from the live circuit. She continued to record with her husband and collaborator Sam Lakeman to return with not only a new album but also a new record label.

Free public events in Edale to celebrate local moorland

Guided walks, talks, a poetry evening and gardeners’ question time are some of the free, community-focused events that local people can look forward to as part of BogFest in Edale next month.

BogFest – taking place Thursday 21st, Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd September at venues throughout the Hope Valley village - is set to celebrate the iconic moorland of the Peak District and South Pennines.
