Déda celebrates successful Catalyst: Evolve bid

Déda, Derby’s Centre for Dance and Contemporary Circus, is one of 140 organisations to receive a share of £17.5 million as part of Arts Council England’s Catalyst: Evolve programme. Catalyst: Evolve aims to support organisations with a limited capacity for fundraising to enable them to attract more private giving.

The Evolve fund will help Déda to develop successful and sustainable fundraising activities by providing the tools and resources to raise funds.  A large part of the grant will be used to match fund donations from visitors and patrons for the first time.

Shire Horse Open Day held at Croots Farm Shop

Gentle giants of the horse world will be shown in all their glory at a Shire Horse Open Day in Derbyshire next month.

The Derbyshire Shire Horse Association Show will be held at Farnah House Farm, Wirksworth Road, near Duffield – the home of Croots Farm Shop.

Derby College teams up with Cricket Derbyshire to highlight sporting career opportunities

Derby College and Derbyshire County Cricket Club are holding an open day on Friday July 15 at the Derbyshire County Ground to outline the opportunities available to young people in professional sports.

Young people interested in the Academy will receive free tickets for the Derbyshire Falcons match against Sri Lanka A, starting at 2pm and then attend an open day at the County Ground between 6.30pm and 8pm to find out more about the Academy.

Children’s craft activities at Croots Farm Shop in Derbyshire

Popular craft activities for children will be run at Croots Farm Shop in Derbyshire during August.

The fun sessions will be held from 10am to 4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1st to 31st August as part of the store’s programme of events. The perfect way to help keep kids entertained during the summer holidays, the sessions are themed around the farm and countryside and include creating farm animal pompoms, bee and butterfly weaving, and making corn kernel mosaics.

St Peters Quarter Businesses Join Tidy Up Event

Representatives from businesses in Derby’s St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) joined together recently for the last early morning Tidy Up event before the results for the proposed renewal of the BID are announced.

Businesses across St Peters Quarter, which is the core retail area between the Cathedral Quarter and Intu Derby shopping centre, are currently voting on a revised business plan with the results due to be announced on Friday July 22.

Archbishop of Canterbury Praises Derby College and Employers’ Partnership

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has praised the partnership working between Derby College and regional employers to better prepare young people for the world of work.

The Archbishop visited Derby College’s Roundhouse campus as part of a three-day tour of the city and county, accompanied by the Bishop of Derby Alastair Redfern. He met a wide range of businesses and students who are part of a pioneering Employer Academy programme which is designed to bridge the gap between education and the workplace.
