Fringe Programme Launches at Green Man Gallery

The 2016 Fringe programme was launched at Buxton’s Green Man Gallery on Sunday June 5 with performers and friends enjoying a lively party featuring music from Fringe entrants Egriega, Far West Theatre, Will Hawthorne & Band and Bluesman Mike Francis plus “telepathic dancing” from Lewys Holt.

Cloaks - A play by Alison Dunne - Buxton Festival Fringe - 7th - 10th July 2016

Leicester’s fishhouse theatre are bringing their brand new production ‘Cloaks’ to Buxton Fringe in July.

Cloaks is a play set in a theatre cloakroom, where customers' coats become characters. Kath works in the theatre cloakroom and is friends with young, front of house worker, Sam.
Sam is leaving her job to join the Army and her plans force Kath to reflect on her own past and face up to the losses she’s had in her life.

Open House At Broomfield Hall

Derby College’s Broomfield Hall will hold its annual open day on Sunday June 12 between 10am and 4pm with a wide range of family-friendly activities and demonstrations by students.

Visitors aged 13 and above will be able to have a go at driving a tractor and, for those who prefer to be a passenger, trailer rides will tour the grounds throughout the day.

Derby College Creative Arts Students Exhibit Work

Creative Arts students at Derby College’s Joseph Wright Campus will exhibit the work they have completed over the past year in a public end of year exhibition.

The students will be joined by family and friends for a private view on Tuesday June 14 when there will also be performances by Music and Performing Arts students. The Art & Design, Games Design and Media students’ work will then be available to view by the public from Wednesday to Friday (June 15 to 17) between 10am and 4pm and on Saturday June 18 between 10am to 1pm.

Art in the Window 2016- Call for Artists and Artisan Makers

This summer over 70 independent retailers on the streets of Glossop, Hadfield and Charlesworth will take part in Art in the Window 2016 Glossopdale; literally providing a shop window for artists and artisan makers in the Glossopdale area.
 
This year’s event is run by Glossop Arts Project and the Art in the Window team with sponsorship from Glossopdale Trust and High peak Borough Council and Buy Art Fare. The exhibition event will take place from 1st – 31st August 2016.
 

The Ladybrook Singers present "Seasons of Song"

The Ladybrook Singers present "Seasons of Song" with Chapel High School Choir on 9th July at 7:30 pm, St John's Church, Buxton.

Award winning choir, the Ladybrook Singers will perform at the upcoming Buxton Fringe Festival.  The programme includes pieces by Elgar, Rutter and a selection from the popular show Les Miserables. They will be ably conducted by Alison Bletcher, known to many in the Buxton area.  The choir has only just returned from an overseas tour of Holland where they delighted audiences in Amsterdam, The Hague and Noordwijk.

Medal Task For Student Engineers

Engineering students at Derby College have produced the medals that will be sported by competitors in this year’s Jenson Button Trust Triathlon – one of the final tasks in their year-long programme with Derby advanced composites manufacturing business  epm:technology.

epm:technology are part of the Derby College Employer Academy programme – providing level three Engineering students with masterclasses, workplace visits and work experience that culminate in a guaranteed interview for an apprenticeship at the end of the programme.
