Floral Decoration in Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter

The Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have commissioned a large number of colourful hanging baskets along the pedestrianised ‘spine’ of the city centre.
Funding for the project has been provided by the BID’s and has seen hanging baskets erected along Iron Gate, the Market Place, Corn Market and St James Street in the Cathedral Quarter and along St Peter’s Street, The Spot and London Road in St Peters Quarter.  

Local Swimmers Fly The Flag For Lonsdale Pool

Two swimmers linked to Lonsdale Pool in Mickleover have returned victorious from the European Masters Championships 2016 held at the iconic London Aquatics Centre at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Jenny Merritt (65), a member of Spondon Masters swimming club, who trains at Lonsdale Pool and is a former seven times Masters breast stroke world champion, returned to winning ways – collecting a gold in the 200m, silver in 100m and a bronze medal in the 50m breast stroke races.

Healthwatch Derbyshire To Investigate Public Awareness Of Online GP Services

Healthwatch Derbyshire is conducting a survey to determine whether patients in the county are aware of the GP services available to them online, and to investigate the accessibility of services on GP websites.

All GP practices across England should be offering online GP services to patients who request it. This is required by the General Medical Services (GMS) and Personal Medical Services (PMS) regulations. They are also required to promote the online services they provide.

St Peters Quarter Businesses Join Tidy Up Event

Representatives from businesses in Derby’s St Peters Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) focused their efforts on St Peter’s Cross and the Green Lane area for the latest Tidy Up event.

Staff from Barclays, Babington Arms, John M Lewis and Greggs were joined by Healthy High Street champions Boots and M&S and were supported by Derby City Council’s Streetpride team and the St Peters Quarter Rangers for the early morning tidy up of the area – which lies between the Cathedral Quarter and Intu Derby shopping centre.

 

Show Garden Raises Awareness of Multiple Sclerosis

Horticulture staff and students at Derby College have teamed up with The Multiple Sclerosis Society, Derby and District Branch to create a unique plant border that will be exhibited and judged at BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2016 at Birmingham’s NEC next week (June 16 – 19).

First Art is seeking a Creative Producer to support the delivery of the First Art programme delivered across North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire.

Based at Junction Arts (Derbyshire), you will support the creative team in delivering a series of place based audience development activities that link to our annual showcase festival. You will also support the development of the First Art ‘Broadcast Channel’ (an online platform that will showcase local events and talent including a series of live web streams).

HUUB Design announces exclusive partnership with Swim Serpentine

HUUB Design are pleased to announce an exclusive partnership with Swim Serpentine, the new two-day open water swimming festival that will be staged in the heart of London over the weekend of 24-25 September 2016.

The multiple award-winning wetsuit and triathlon apparel manufacturers will provide wetsuits, swimwear and swim accessories to all participants looking to hire or purchase equipment for the event. All swimmers in the mass-participation mile must wear either a wetsuit or use a tow-float.
