Derby College Apprenticeship and Jobs Fair – Monday July 11

A wide range of jobs and apprenticeships will be on offer at an information day on Monday July 11 at Derby College’s Roundhouse campus in Pride Park between 12 noon and 2pm.

The free event includes information about a wide range of full and part time jobs as well as apprenticeships available to start in the coming weeks and several employers with vacancies will be attending to meet applicants including Delaware North, the NHS and the Army.

Father & son recreate a remarkable story at Buxton Festival

A collaboration between a Hope Valley father and son will be staging its premiere during this year’s Buxton festival. “The Conductor” is a dramatisation by local writer Mark Wallington, of how a concert by Dmitri Shostakovich silenced the guns of the approaching German Army during the famous siege of Leningrad.

New Event Aims To Put Men Back On Healthy Track

Derby-based HUUB Events has teamed up with Cricket Derbyshire to hold a brand new sporting event in the city.

Oktober-Vest will be held at Derbyshire County Cricket Club and the neighbouring Racecourse Park on Saturday October 1 and is designed to encourage more men, of all ages, to increase their activity, fitness and health.

Archbishop of Canterbury Praises Derby College and Employers’ Partnership

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has praised the partnership working between Derby College and regional employers to better prepare young people for the world of work.

The Archbishop visited Derby College’s Roundhouse campus as part of a three-day tour of the city and county, accompanied by the Bishop of Derby Alastair Redfern. He met a wide range of businesses and students who are part of a pioneering Employer Academy programme which is designed to bridge the gap between education and the workplace.

Families Gear Up To Be More Bailey

More than 50 youngsters have signed up for the free Be More Bailey family triathlon challenge which will take place in Markeaton Park on Sunday July 17 as part of the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon.

HUUB Gears Up For Park Bikeworks Move

Secure cycle parking and a new shop featuring top international cycling brands is still available in the refurbished Park Bikeworks in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter, following the move there by Derby-based triathlon wetsuit, clothing and accessories specialists HUUB Design. Under HUUB Design’s leasehold agreement with Derby City Council, bike parking at the premises in Full Street will continue to be available for the public under the management of a new company Park Bikeworks Ltd.
