Families Invited to Roaring Wild Musical Adventure

Derby-based orchestra Sinfonia Viva have corralled a herd of favourite animal-themed music and songs for this year’s Get Creative Family Arts Festival which will be performed for children aged five and under and their families next month.

The Orchestra won a national award for last year’s family concert ‘The Boat & The Blue’ which was performed to a sell-out audience and this year’s date is now confirmed.

‘The Carnival of the Animals’ will be held on Sunday October 30 at the Rolls Royce Heritage Centre in Wilmore Road.

Three Months On exhibition in QUAD, Derby

Artists Dizzy Ink present a new exhibition in QUAD Extra Gallery Spaces reflecting on the time since Brexit. Three Months On is a newly commissioned, site-specific installation consisting of large-scale black and white Xerox prints, wallpaper pieces and more. The artworks take reference from the speeches made by politicians, representatives and campaign media used during the run up to the referendum, using critical points that were used to sway the public to either side.

Luminate Lantern and Light Festival - The Orangery, Derby Arboretum

On Saturday 5 November 2016 5pm - 8pm, Friends of Derby Arboretum, Spiral Arts, Rotary Club of Derby and Derby City Council Parks are hosting a Lantern Festival on the historic Derby Arboretum as part of its community celebrations.

The celebrations are to mark the anniversary year of being open to the public for 175 years.  We are inviting the local communities and people of Derby to come along and join us for this wonderful evening Lantern event.

CUBE café bar to play host to an exclusive food and fiction event this October

The CUBE café|bar in Derby is offering booklovers an opportunity to sample their new autumn menu for only five pounds whilst discussing a selection of literary delights on Thursday 27 October from 7.30pm.
The ‘Book Club Feast for a Fiver’ is designed to celebrate the success of the CUBE café|bar’s book club, which has been running for almost four years, and to encourage new attendees to join.

The Community Action Grant is open to voluntary and community groups and local non-profit making organisations.

1623 are delighted to present a pilot production of Lear/Cordelia: a radical reworking of Shakespeare’s King Lear followed by Cordelia, a new play from the perspective of Lear's youngest daughter.

Lear has dementia. His children never visit him. He forbids it, ever since they betrayed him and he disowned them many years ago. So what happens when Cordelia - his youngest, whose betrayal was the greatest - knocks on his door? Why has she come back? What's her story? And is there any chance of reconciliation?
