CUBE café bar to play host to an exclusive food and fiction event this October

The CUBE café|bar in Derby is offering booklovers an opportunity to sample their new autumn menu for only five pounds whilst discussing a selection of literary delights on Thursday 27 October from 7.30pm.
The ‘Book Club Feast for a Fiver’ is designed to celebrate the success of the CUBE café|bar’s book club, which has been running for almost four years, and to encourage new attendees to join.

Catherine Ward, the CUBE café|bar manager, said: “I started the CUBE book club out of selfish motives. Like a lot of people, I was so busy that getting through a book was way down on my list of priorities. I decided to start a book club to encourage myself to finish a book and to read material I wouldn’t usually. “All the people that come do so because it is very relaxed and unstuffy. If someone doesn’t make it through the book choice they still come and enjoy listening to what others thought of it. It’s a very social evening with good discussions, good wine and, if you haven’t had your tea, food and great company.”

The books on the list for discussion are Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote and Chocolat by Joanne Harris. Attendees only need to read one of these foodie titles to join in with the evening’s discussions.
The CUBE café|bar is the perfect place to be hosting this exclusive event, which will no doubt continue to raise its profile as a vibrant independent café, home to a selection of regular social events including poetry performance evenings, jazz nights and Christmas markets.

The café was nominated as a Food and Drink best café finalist in the 2015 and, more recently, was awarded a 5 star hygiene rating review – one of only few in Derby.

The Book Club Feast for a Fiver takes place at the CUBE café|bar on Chapel Street in Derby on Thursday 27 October at 7.30pm. All are welcome but pre-booking is essential. Contact Déda’s Box Office on 01332 370911 to book your seat.
