Music Grants for Older People (England & Wales)

The registered charity, Concertina which makes grants of up to £250 to charitable bodies which provide musical entertainment and related activities for the elderly has announced that the next deadline for applications is the 31st October 2016. The charity is particular keen to support smaller organisations which might otherwise find it difficult to gain funding.
 

Creative England Production Fund (England)

The next deadline for applying to the Creative England Production Fund is the 8th July 2016. The fund supports the production of feature films of all genres (including documentaries). Priority will be given to projects from regionally-based directors- both first/second time feature directors and more established directors looking to experiment with new approaches. The project must be capable of:

Co-Production Fund for Broadcast, Games and Film (UK)

The Wellcome Trust has announced that organisations and individuals working in the broadcast, games and film industries have until the 17th June 2016 to submit an expression of interest form to the Co-Production Fund for Broadcast, Games and Film. Up to £40,000 funding is available and in exceptional circumstances, up to £300,000 can be awarded for projects that are outstanding in ambition and impact. Proposals should be aimed at a mainstream audience in the UK or Republic of Ireland (the subject matter can be international).

Coal Regeneration Trust Funding Received

Local Cultural Education Partnership receives funding for ‘C.O.A.L’ - a new arts festival that celebrates local talent

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust has invested £9,820 in ‘Creating Opportunities for Aspiring Leaders’ (C.O.A.L), a new project based in the coalfields area of Amber Valley. The project will work with 15 Young Leaders to offer training and work experience that generates transferable skills for their future employment journey, whilst simultaneously creating a new festival experience for the local community.

2016 Brit Award Winners heading for Derby Arena

Winners of the 2016 Brit Breakthrough Award Catfish and the Bottlemen are set to play at Derby Arena on Saturday 5 November. The announcement swiftly follows the launch of their much anticipated second studio album The Ride last Friday.

Last weekend the band thrilled the masses on the main stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and are now on their North American tour. Catfish and the Bottlemen have previously played at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds festival and this new tour takes in Derby Arena alongside the SSE Arena Wembley and Ricoh Arena.

Bereavement Support Programme Starts

A free programme designed to give support and education to anyone following a bereavement will start again next Wednesday (June 8))

The six-week Grief Journey Derby programme is funded by Derby and Ashbourne independent funeral directors G Wathall & Son. The weekly sessions are held between 6pm and 8pm at Derby Rugby Club in Haslam’s Lane and must be pre-booked by contacting G Wathall & Son.

Déda Appoints Creative Producer

Déda in Derby, through funding by The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, has appointed a Creative Producer to help drive forward the organisation’s vision to become the Midlands’ leading creative centre for dance, contemporary circus and outdoor performing arts.

Derby College students launch two new books at Derby Book Festival

The books will be officially launched by the Derby College learners at a Derby Book Festival event – Monday June 6, 7pm – 8pm at the College’s Joseph Wright Centre.

Nineteen Derby College learners who are recent arrivals to Derby from across the world are compiling their stories of how they have come to the UK which will be published in a book entitled ‘Our Journey to English’ and launched as part of this year’s Derby Book Festival.

It's been an incredibly busy few weeks in the gallery preparing the building for Derbyshire Open Arts, it was a venue for the event showcasing the work of 21 Artists & Artisans. Now that the event is over they are excitedly getting the gallery ready for the next show.
