Job Opportunity - DerwentWISE Community Engagement Officer - Arts & Interpretation

Salary FTE £24,671 pro rata + 9.5% pension (part-time post) and other benefits fixed term contract to 31st December 2018

The DerwentWISE Partnership has been awarded £1.7 million by the Heritage Lottery Fund to deliver a £2.5 million landscape partnership project in the Lower Derwent Valley, stretching from Matlock Bath to Derby, the setting for the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

Art in the Window 2016- Call for Artists and Artisan Makers

This summer we aim for over 50 independent retailers on the streets of Glossop, Hadfield, Charlesworth, Gamesley and Simmondley to take part in Art in the Window - Glossopdale; literally providing a shop window for artists and artisan makers in the Glossop area.
 
This year’s event is run by Glossop Arts Project and the Art in the Window team in collaboration with Glossopdale Trust. The exhibition event will take place from 1st – 31st August  2016.
 
We are looking for amateur and professional artists as well as local students to display their work.

Derby College Students Release Rescued Hedgehogs Back Into the Wild

Animal Care learners at Derby College’s Broomfield Hall have successfully released two hedgehogs back into the wild having spent the winter looking after them.

The hedgehogs, which learners named Apollo and Barry, were all found locally last Autumn and were too small and under-nourished to hibernate. They were taken in by the Animal Care department and learners have kept them at a constant indoor temperature to keep them awake and ensured they have been well fed over the winter months.

Show Garden Raises Awareness of Multiple Sclerosis

Horticulture staff and students at Derby College have teamed up with The Multiple Sclerosis Society, Derby and District Branch to create a unique plant border that will be exhibited and judged at BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2016 at Birmingham’s NEC this June.

New Mills Festival Launches Call For Visual Arts 2016

New Mills Festival is delighted to invite submissions from artists across the UK to take part in a two-week long Art Trail. The Trail forms part of the Festival which takes place across New Mills from the 9th to the 25th September 2016. Submissions open on 20th March 2016 and close on midnight 15th May 2016.

Students Gain Insight Into Advanced Composites

Engineering students at Derby College have spent a week gaining an insight into the advanced composites manufacturing business at epm:technology’s £6 million manufacturing, research and development facility in Derby.

The students, who are all studying level three Engineering study programmes at the College’s Roundhouse campus, are members of the epm:technology Employer Academy at Derby College. The programme is part of Derby College’s wider initiative in partnership with businesses across the East Midlands to bridge the gap between education and world of work.
