2016 Brit Award Winners heading for Derby Arena

Winners of the 2016 Brit Breakthrough Award Catfish and the Bottlemen are set to play at Derby Arena on Saturday 5 November. The announcement swiftly follows the launch of their much anticipated second studio album The Ride last Friday.

Last weekend the band thrilled the masses on the main stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and are now on their North American tour. Catfish and the Bottlemen have previously played at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds festival and this new tour takes in Derby Arena alongside the SSE Arena Wembley and Ricoh Arena.

‘The Ride’ is set to top the album charts this Friday and has had the critics raving with Q Magazine saying ‘Van McCann’s dream is to headline stadiums. Don’t bet against it’ and Mojo coming to the same conclusion calling the album ‘a second set of stadium ready anthems’.

Catfish and the Bottlemen are: Van McCann (vocals/guitar), Johnny Bond (guitar), Benji Blakeaway (bass) and Bob Hall (drums).

The unrivaled exhilaration of a Catfish and the Bottlemen live show is captured in the video for current single ‘7’, with the band galvanising the crowd into a frenzy as they sing along to every word.

On the announcement Councillor Martin Rawson, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Communities and City Centre Regeneration, said: “It will be great to have such a breakthrough band playing at Derby Arena this Autumn. “There will be more events to follow as we continue to develop the cultural offer. The internationally renowned Hallé Orchestra will be playing in June, there will be the first Derby Arena Track Grand Prix event in July and we recently announced a brilliant cast for our panto Cinderella that includes cast members from some of the most watched UK TV shows.”
