Beauty and the Beast - Pantomime Get-Together/Auditions – 5 September at 7.30pm - New Mills Art Theatre

This is your chance to tread the boards at New Mills Art Theatre in the 2017 pantomime Beauty and the Beast, to be staged by the Friends of the Art Theatre.  A Get-Together at 7.30pm on Monday 5 September at New Mills Art Theatre, Jodrell Street, SK22 3HJ will be held and all are welcome to come along to meet the production team. The Director, Natalie Coverley, will talk about the panto and all the characters, music and story.  Auditions will be held later in September.

Belper Games raises a staggering £30,000!

For the first time the event was split over a two day weekend event, and kicked off with a free film night on the Friday night.

It wasn’t easy to take an already successful event and add a whole extra day but we knew you good people of Belper wouldn’t let us down and we’re thrilled to have made even more money for the small charities we support. We are thrilled to announce that the Belper Games Weekender raised a phenomenal £30,000!

Challenge Sportive Ladies Wave Announced

Organisers of the Cycle Derby North Derbyshire Challenge Sportive on Sunday September 18 are planning a special focus on women cyclists in recognition of the growth in the sport’s profile and popularity amongst women of all ages.
A special ladies-only 80km wave will be organised for the first time as part of the annual event although female cyclists also have the choice of entering the 40km or 160km routes if they prefer.  

Local Talent Invited To Perform at Derby Festé Milestone

Derbyshire-based performers are being invited to apply to be part of the tenth annual Derby Festé which will return to the city centre on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 September with a packed programme of spectacular family entertainment.
On Saturday the Cathedral Quarter, St Peters Quarter and Intu Derby shopping centre will be a bustling hub of street entertainment featuring more than 20 different acts including dance, aerial performance, theatre, comedy and contemporary circus.

Celebrating Improvements To Young Carers’ Services

A 12 month partnership project to raise greater awareness of the plight of young carers in Derbyshire will culminate in a celebration event on Friday July 29 in Matlock.

An initial report last year by Healthwatch Derbyshire, the county’s health and social care watchdog, highlighted the experiences of many of the county’s 1,600 young carers. This led to a number of information sharing events and pledges by health and social care providers and commissions to improve access to and involvement in services across the county.

Fete Planned For City’s Market Place

A group of trainees from Rolls-Royce plc have teamed up with Derby-based regional orchestra Sinfonia Viva to organise a family fun day in the city’s Cathedral Quarter on Saturday August 27.
