Free Seminars Focus On Bereavement Support

Derby and Ashbourne independent funeral directors G Wathall & Son are holding two free seminars to help people cope with bereavement and also to share best practice with professionals on supporting people who have lost a loved one. The daytime seminars will be held on Monday September 26 at the Grange Banqueting Suite in Littleover.

Teams Invited To Take Up the Flint Bishop Challenge at New Oktober-Vest

Businesses, community groups and clubs will have the chance to vie for a host of prizes in the Flint Bishop Team Challenge as part of the first Oktober-Vest men’s and boys’ running event in the city on Saturday October 1.

Derby-based HUUB Events has teamed up with Cricket Derbyshire to organise Oktober-Vest at the 3aaa County Ground and neighbouring Racecourse Park.

Oktober-Vest is designed to encourage men and boys of all ages to increase their activity, fitness and health. Entrants can run either 2.5km, 5km or 10km in a relaxed event without the pressure of timing chips.

Pool Staff Plan Channel Challenge

Staff at two Derby swimming pools have raised £600 for vital maintenance and training on life-saving equipment available to the public.

More than 20 members of staff at Lonsdale Pool in Mickleover and Gayton Pool in Littleover were joined by some family, children and friends – taking it in turns to swim 1,664 lengths of Lonsdale Pool in a day - which is the equivalent to the 26 mile English Channel. Cake sale was also held at the pools organised by lifeguard Laura O’Donnell.

Urban Culture To Take Centre Stage At Derby Festé

The People’s Stage will return to Derby Festé this September to celebrate the best of urban and Black community arts in the city and county. Organised by Derby-based Baby People – the stage will be set in the Market Place on Saturday September 24, which is the second day of the 10th annual Derby Festé.

Dates announced for Derby Book Festival 2017

The dates are announced today for the third Derby Book Festival.  Next year’s Festival will be held from Friday 9 June to Saturday 17 June 2017 in venues across the city and will again be developed in partnership with local organisations and businesses.  The dates for next year mean the Festival will be held a week later than the previous two to avoid the half term holidays.  

HUUB Party Will Cheer on Team GB In Olympic Triathlon Race

HUUB Design will be celebrating its Olympic links at a special event in the city this Thursday, August 18.

The Derby company will combine the official opening of its new showroom at the Park Bikeworks in the Cathedral Quarter with a screening of the Olympic triathlon event live from Rio on cinema screens at the nearby QUAD. Nearly 200 staff, customers and fellow Marketing Derby bondholders are expected to attend the event.
