Derby College Event Supports Young People Into Apprenticeships

Derby College is holding two special sessions which are designed to support young people into apprenticeships and the world of work.

As part of information evenings at the Roundhouse campus in Pride Park – Apprenticeship Ready sessions will be held on January 26 and then March 14, both between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

Cyclists Gear Up For Sportive Challenge

Entries are now open for Derby’s Spring Classic Sportive event which has been confirmed for Sunday April 23, 2017.

Cyclists of all ages and abilities have the choice of three distances – 40k, 60k and 120k – starting and finishing at Markeaton Park with routes around South Derbyshire and East Staffordshire.

Early bird entrants will qualify for a discount if they sign up by December 31 with further discounts available for those who also sign up for the North Derbyshire Cycle Sportive on September 17, 2017.

The Sportive is being organised by Cycle Derby and HUUB Events

Great Northern Running Event - Sunday March 5th

The date for the next annual Great Northern Running Event has been confirmed as Sunday March 5, 2017 - organised again by Mickleover Cricket Club and Derby-based HUUB Events.

The event, which last year attracted nearly 500 runners of all ages, includes a half marathon (21k) a 10k run and a 2k family fun run. 

It is named after and takes part along part of the disused Great Northern railway line in Mickleover.

London Classic Theatre Announces New Tour

Following the successful tour of Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party in 2016, London Classic Theatre Artistic Director Michael Cabot has announced a new production of Terry Johnson’s Hysteria for spring 2017, stopping off at Buxton in February.

The Rockabillies Choir

Long Eaton December 2016: The Rockabillies Choir  have had a busy time singing all over Long Eaton and bringing music, humour and excitement to many of our groups in the community.  The Cancer Journey group were delighted by a surprise Flash Mob in the foyer of The Village Hotel which got everyone rocking and singing along!  The New Horizons group in Long Eaton were treated to a Christmas concert at their monthly meeting and the choir will be singing next for the Homeless at their lunch organised by the W.I and the Canaan Trust.  The choir will be recording a CD at the Black Dog studios on

Derby Theatre announces big festive production for next year…and booking is now open

Derby Theatre is thrilled to announce its big festive production for 2017/18, the classic, magical and mystical family favourite, Peter Pan.

The Theatre opens its Christmas production for this year tonight (Fri 2 December), the charming, curious and colourful Alice in Wonderland, a show which is sure to give theatregoers of all ages a real festive treat - and with Christmas productions always proving incredibly popular and, for many, an annual family tradition, it’s never too early to book for next year.

THE PYE HILL & DISTRICT MALE VOICE CHOIR PERFORM AT SELSTON CHURCH

The Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir are to provide a Christmas concert at Selston Methodist Church, 3 Chapel Road, Selston, NG16 6BW, on Saturday 10th December 2016 at 7.30 p.m. The concert rounds off another busy year for the choir including a tour to Devon, a number of joint concerts and singing at Derby Cathedral. The choir once again expect to have a another busy year in 2017, including a tour to South Wales in May and participation in the East Midlands Choir's event.
