Déda Programme Supports Dance Artists and Young People to Develop their skills and employability.

Déda, the Derby-based nationally recognised centre for dance, movement and creativity, has launched a new series of in-person education and training programmes called the Déda Campus, to help Dance Artists and young people learn more about dance and upskill themselves.

An Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training course has been developed for those aged 18 and above, with a background in dance, to deepen their practice and provide alternative income sources for freelancers.

Network Meeting Announced + Event Listings + More! At Glossop Creates

After a successful creative network meeting back in September 2021,  Glossop Creates has announced the date and venue for the Spring 2022 meeting - which, for the first time, will bring together the creative, food and music networks in one room.

The meeting will provide a platform for the Glossop Creates team and friends to update the community about the latest news and views from all aspects of the town’s independent and creative community, and provide a space for people and businesses to talk, collaborate and share ideas.

St George’s Day celebrations bring cheer to Derby streets

Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate St George's Day in Derby's city centre on Saturday, April 23, for the first time in person in two years since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

Derby LIVE produced the event, which was backed by the St Peter's Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) and featured a variety of acts honouring English culture and legacy in all its eccentricities.

QUAD to hold JAPAN FEST a celebration of Japanese culture in July

QUAD in Derby will hold a celebration of Japanese culture in June. Japan Fest is a brand-new event organised by Otaku World in association with QUAD. Besides performances, film, and anime, activities will include workshops, Japanese arts and crafts plus authentic handmade food and Japanese inspired drinks.

Japan Fest is open to all ages, adults, children and especially for families on a day designed to gain a deeper understanding of Japanese culture.

Big bands back in Buxton big-time

Big band music is back big-time as the 2022 Buxton International Festival (BIF) celebrates the town’s tradition for live music and dancing.

The newly refurbished Pavilion Gardens Octagon will once again come alive to the sounds of its 1950s and ‘60s hey-days when on July 17 the BIF Dance Band plays music made famous by the big names of the day, such as Joe Loss, Victor Sylvester, Geraldo and Ted Heath.

Youth-led theatre company seeks new performers for summer season!

Calling all performers aged 10–30! PB Theatricals Youth Theatre are looking for young actors/singers to join us for our summer 2022 performance season.

Since 2009, we have been rehearsing and performing two performances within a concentrated rehearsal period. This year our shows are Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance (for ages 16–30), and The Sorcerer (for ages 10–18).
