Derby-based Sinfonia Viva’s new 2015/16 programme has been confirmed - demonstrating the breadth and diversity of the regional Orchestra’s work in the city and county.
Viva’s 2015/16 season starts with a concert specially designed for children aged under five and their families on Sunday October 25 at the Rolls-Royce Heritage Centre as part of the national Family Arts Festival.
St Peters Quarter, which is the core retail area between Cathedral Quarter and Intu Derby shopping centre, will welcome thousands of visitors to a host of events as part of this year’s popular Derby Festé programme.
On Friday September 25, the Saurus parade will start from St Peter’s Cross at 9pm with the incredible giant beasts stalking their ‘prey’ with deafening roars along St Peter’s Street and Victoria Street on their way to the Market Place.
Derby Cathedral Quarter’s CQ Saturdays September events will give visitors a fantastic flavour of the 2015 Derby Festé programme.
A wide range of street entertainment and events will be held in the Cathedral Quarter as part of the two-day Festé programme on Friday September 25 and Saturday September 26.
In the meantime, there is a host of free entertainment in the area in the run up to the event.
With ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ fever set to return in the coming weeks – Déda is giving local people the chance to learn and improve their techniques in a wide range of dance styles.
Déda has a new-look class programme including an expanded Social Dance offer which will start on Monday September 7 at its purpose-built studios in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter.

Buxton Festival Fringe has become the 500th member to sign up to the ‘Made in Derbyshire’ campaign celebrating everything that’s great about the county.
Derbyshire County Council is a lead partner in the campaign working with other local councils, cultural groups and tourism organisations to promote and boost the local economy through its products, culture, festivals and sporting events.
Local arts and music groups are being encouraged to sign up alongside businesses, museums and tourist destinations – and Buxton Festival Fringe is the 500th to sign up.
Wirksworth, once known for its vast stone quarries, is perhaps better known today for its arts festival and, fittingly, the theme of the visual arts programme in its twenty-first year is Transformations. Always a lively small market town with its independent shops and cafés, quirky streets, varied architecture and strong community, Wirksworth transforms itself each year into a venue for the visual arts and performance – a gallery and a stage, with over a hundred artists, live drama and music, and film.
Visitors to Derby’s Cathedral Quarter will be treated to a host of entertainment this August with a wide range of free events.
The popular CQ Saturdays programme continues with Street Circus, in partnership with Déda Producing, on August 8 with regular performances at the Waterfall in the Market Place between 11am and 3pm.
What do a postcard, scrap metal, John Masefield and a cap badge all have in common? The answer is that they are all part of the diverse and extensive exhibition now open in The Pump Room of the Grand Pavilion, Matlock Bath. The exhibition is part of the Heritage Lottery funded ‘The Great War – Life in The Bath’ project run jointly by Matlock Bath Parish Council, Peak District Lead Mining Museum and Matlock Bath Heritage and involving residents, businesses and visitors to the village.
