A wide range of Construction skills students at Derby College Group (DCG) in Derby and Ilkeston have gained industry-accredited training to boost their chances of securing a job in the industry, thanks to a partnership initiative with Howarth Timber and Building Supplies.

The company, which has been established since 1840 and is the UK’s largest privately-owned timber company with 33 branches across the UK, joined forces with DCG last year to set up an online training Employer Academy.

A Long Eaton business has pledged support for The Brain Tumour Charity which is the world’s largest charity dedicated to funding global research into the disease.

More Than Loft Ladders in Meadow Lane is donating £1 for every job it completes this year and is on target to raise £1,200 by the end of 2021.

The charity is close to the business owner Liam Hobbs’ heart as his wife Kelly (41) was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2015.

The soft market test will take place from Thursday 15th July until Friday 13th August 2021.

Mature students at Derby College Group’s Broomfield Hall have designed and planted a flowerbed in Horsley Woodhouse to commemorate the important role that the village played in World War Two.

Horsley Woodhouse was home to three factories which were opened at the beginning of the war following concerns that the main Rolls-Royce factory in Derby would be targeted by German bombers.

Safe and Sound, the Derbyshire based child exploitation charity, is supporting this summer’s NCS programme with a series of awareness raising sessions for young people.

Safe and Sound supports children and young people across Derbyshire who are victims of or at risk of child exploitation which includes online grooming, sexual exploitation, County Lines, Modern Slavery and trafficking as well as supporting their families and raising awareness of the issues in local communities.
