Business Students Enter The Dragons Den

Derby College Group (DCG) recently hosted a Dragon’s Den style event for around 150 Business students to present their plans for a new product.

Marresa director Nikki Johnson was part of a five-strong panel of judges alongside Sarah Smith, Bettina Crofts and Marcus Gayle from the College and Merv Sheldon who runs Bridesfayre.

Derbyshire acclaimed photographer Tony Fisher joins artist Fi Marks in an intimate exhibition, called Touch. Hold a series of original Polaroids taken by the photographer and artist that tells a story.

Beyond The Spectrum: Celebration Event

You are all invited to a very special online event to celebrate some of the magnificent writing produced by participants of the Beyond The Spectrum project for autistic writers which began back in January, and which will conclude this week.

The event will comprise performances and live readings from a group of writers of all ages, and promises to be a really special afternoon. If you’d like to drop in, you will need to register here.

Villainous Prize For DCG Student

Derby College Group (DCG) Media Make Up student Phoebe Child has clinched the top prize in a competition run for students by London theatrical make up specialists Kryolan UK.

The company devised an enrichment project for the Roundhouse-based students who were set the challenge to design, create and submit photographs of an original make up design on the theme of theatrical villains.

Phoebe Child (18) from Belper was chosen as the winner for her design which she applied on herself (pictured).

Song about Derbyshire Libraries to be written by young library users

Young people are being sought to take part in a song writing workshop for Derbyshire libraries.

The project ‘Derbyshire Sings’ is funded by Arts Council England as part of its Lottery Grants programme.

Derbyshire County Council’s library service successfully bid for just over £7,500 so that it could provide an opportunity for existing library customers to be involved in the creation of a song about libraries, and what the library means to them.
