Actor Molly Windsor praises local creative project

Derbyshire-born actor Molly Windsor, who is an ambassador for child exploitation charity Safe and Sound, was the guest of honour at a performance to celebrate an innovative creative project for local children and young people.

Safe and Sound teamed up with arts organisations Derby Theatre and Baby People to enable ten boys and girls to join the Youth Voice project as part of the charity’s work to help them overcome their experiences of child exploitation.

Creative Project Embraces Special Talents

Song about Derbyshire libraries to be written by library users

Young people are being sought to take part in a song writing workshop for Derbyshire libraries.

The project ‘Derbyshire Sings’ is funded by Arts Council England as part of its Lottery Grants programme.

Our library service successfully bid for just over £7,500 so that it could provide an opportunity for existing library customers to be involved in the creation of a song about libraries, and what the library means to them.

Art from Ruth Gray

Based around the High Peak Trail just the section from Middleton Top, down to High Peak Junction I aim to really focus in detail by painting 25 panoramic views of it as if you were walking down it. The High Peak trail was developed fifty years ago and opened fully in 1974 as a public trail. Why am I doing this? Well, it is somewhere I've always loved and is a natural progression from my Derwent Valley Mills work as the railway was a major part of the valley's transport infrastructure.

New: National Forest Society Grants

The National Forest is looking for new ways to support the health and wellbeing of those who live in the National Forest and are pleased to announce a new grant scheme to fund work to achieve this.

Projects supported by the Forest Society grant scheme will encourage new and diverse audiences to get involved with Forest activities, increase participation overall, and will use local woodlands to harness the wellbeing benefits of spending times outdoors and connecting to nature.
