Bursary Awards For Derby College Group Students

Two Derby College Group (DCG) Art & Design students have won bursaries from Arts Society Derby to support their move into Higher Education.

UAL Art Foundation Diploma student Maisie Bull (19) from Littleover has won £400 and £200 has been awarded Leanne Bailey (18) from Cromford.

Writing for Wellbeing Workshop

Leonie Martin’s latest Online Writing for Wellbeing workshop will be on the theme of WONDERING, and will take place on Saturday 3rd July 11:00-13:00.

The workshop includes writing activities and an opportunity to share your work and listen to others within a safe and relaxing ‘virtual’ space. No previous experience of creative writing is required.

Dandelion: An Exhibition by Ed Burkes

Dandelion is an exhibition of work created by Ed, the eighth winner of the Jonathan Vickers Fine Art Award, in response to the people, culture, heritage and landscape of Derbyshire.

Furthest from the Sea at Belper Fringe July 3rd and 4th 2021

>The people from the Arts Group “Furthest from the Sea” have a whole load of fringe style shows on offer for Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July at Number 28, as part of the Belper Fringe. 

That’s right, live entertainment returns despite the extended lockdown. That thing where you watch entertainment in person performed by real people is back!

PB Theatricals brings the Magic Back to Theatre

‘...to find a mother younger than her son is very curious’

PB Theatricals youth theatre company brings magic back to the stage with Gilbert & Sullivan’s Iolanthe. After a year’s hiatus due to coronavirus, the not-for-profit youth theatre group that specialises in auditioning, rehearsing and performing shows within one week, is delighted to return to the Medway Community Centre, Bakewell for this year’s production of Iolanthe. 

New Partnership Accelerates Students’ Job Prospects

Derby College Group (DCG) has teamed up with Autotech Academy to help newly qualified students into their first employment in the automotive industry through paid internships.

Autotech Academy offers 3-12 month internship opportunities for students.  It also equips students with their own toolbox (worth £1,200), uniform and ongoing training for the duration of their paid internship including the Level 3 IMI Electric/Hybrid Vehicle accreditation to further help them transition into full time employment.

Heritage Wood Visitors Encouraged To Take Time to Remember

Family-owned Wathall’s funeral directors have sponsored a sturdy oak table and bench in the heart of Heritage Wood at Ednaston for visitors to enjoy a quiet moment of contemplation.

The table and bench has been engraved with a grief quote ‘Those who have no time to mourn have no time to mend.  It has been installed in the woodland clearing alongside the six foot stainless steel dandelion sculpture which Wathall’s commissioned two years ago thanks to a donation from the Ashbourne Shrovetide committee.
