Free lambing open day at Croots Farm Shop in Derbyshire

Popular Derbyshire farm shop Croots is staging a special lambing day on Sunday 29th April.

Free to visit, the event is an opportunity for families to pop into the lambing sheds and see some of the scores of lambs that have been born at Farnah House Farm, Wirksworth Road, near Duffield, this season.

The first lambs at the farm arrived on 9th April and around 130 are expected over three weeks.

The lambing event, which runs from 10am to 3pm, is a chance for visitors to pet the lambs and also to meet Shire horse foals Cowerslane April, who was born on 16th April, and Leon, who was born in February.

Kay Croot, who runs the farm shop with husband Steve, said: “The lambing day is the perfect opportunity for families to visit and see how a working farm operates. We’re looking forward to welcoming our regular customers and others from the area, who may not have yet ventured up our drive to see what Croots Farm Shop is all about.”

Croots Farm Shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm (Shires Eatery until 4.30pm) and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays. Croots runs Fresh Fish Thursdays between 9am and 1pm on Thursdays.
