Derbyshire projects receive £70m Budget boost from Chancellor

Projects which could create thousands of new homes and jobs in Derbyshire have received a £70 million boost from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

In his recent Autumn Budget and Spending Review, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak announced the first round of winners from its £4.8 billion Levelling Up Fund.

Out of the £1.7 billion announced, the South Derby Growth Zone and Infinity Garden Village received the largest single allocation of just under £50 million.

City Centre BIDs Launch Golden Ticket Prize Draw

Derby’s Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) are stepping up their efforts to encourage people to shop local this Christmas by giving visitors the chance to win a share of £2,000 worth of shopping vouchers.

Visitors can collect and fill out golden tickets from city centre businesses who display Golden Ticket posters in their window and then post them in one of 20 special boxes which have been stationed in businesses across the Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter.

All Rise for the Christmas lights switch on

Derby will be dreaming of a Blue Christmas in the best possible way when singer Simon Webbe switches on the city centre Christmas lights on Saturday 13 November.

The singer songwriter, who shot to fame as a member of the British boy band Blue, will perform as the headline act in a spectacular family show outside the Council House in Corporation Street.

Collective Residency Open Call: FORMAT22

FORMAT is delighted to announce an open call for an artist collective to be in residence at QUAD.

The residency will take place between November 2021 and March 2022 including an exhibition in the QUAD Extra Gallery Spaces during our FORMAT off year.

This is an opportunity for a UK based artist collective working in digital, lens-based media or photography to develop existing project/s or to realise new work and exhibit as part of the FORMAT Off Year programme.

Derby QUAD: Digital Participatory Artist in Residence Opportunity 2021/22

QUAD invites expressions of interest for UK based artists or creative educators to undertake a practice based Digital Participatory Residency at QUAD, in Derby.

The Digital Participation Artist in Residence programme is for artists who are engaged with the theory and practice of innovative digital arts practices and research. For 2021-22, we are particularly interested in supporting practitioners who have adopted digital practices following the covid-19 pandemic.

Wirksworth's new contemporary non-for-profit art gallery to open soon

Haarlem Artspace raises £500 for necessary equipment. Haarlem have set an opening date for their new professional art gallery in Wirksworth showcasing rural contemporary art.  
 
The new gallery is set to open to the public, for a sneak peek into the beautiful space, on Saturday the 6th of November for their Christmas market. The gallery then officially opens showcasing its first exhibition ‘Gathering’ with a public viewing taking place on the 26th, and doors opening officially to the public on the 28th.
