Haarlem Artspace launches Go Fund Me campaign to support gallery opening

Haarlem Artspace has launched a Go Fund Me campaign in which will help with the transformation of an 18th Century town assembly room into a stunning new contemporary art gallery in Wirksworth’s Red Lion Hotel.

Scheduled to open later this year, the new Haarlem Artspace Gallery is an exciting partnership with the Red Lion Hotel and The Feather Star Alehouse and aims to showcase the range and quality of contemporary art that is available in non-traditional venues. 

UK City of Culture longlist success is just the start

Derby is celebrating after making the longlist to be UK City of Culture 2025. Now the work really begins with cultural partners having until January 2022 to submit their full bid.

A record 20 cities, counties and regions expressed interest in becoming UK City of Culture 2025, and Derby is one of eight to reach the next stage. The shortlist will be revealed by the Government early next year and the winner announced in the Spring.

Breathing Life into History: Historic Tours of Derby

October 2021 sees the start of a new Historic Tour of Derby. The tour will take place on the last Saturday morning of the month, commencing on Saturday 30th October 2021. A two-mile accessible walk lasting 1 hour 30 minutes. 

The tour will leave at 11.00am prompt from outside Derby Tourist Information Centre, Riverside Chambers, Full St, Derby DE1 3AF (across the road from Derby Market Place), and finish at Derby Museum & Art Gallery, The Strand, around 12.30 midday.

Shine a Light on Cromford Mills!

Make sure you grab your tickets to a celebration of Derbyshire’s heritage and history as large-scale video projections illuminate the 250-year-old mill walls.

Visit Cromford Mills from the 28th-29th October 2021 to experience this spectacular projection that brings history to life through light and sound.

                                             

Blooming success for DCG’s Ilkeston Community College

The Estates team at Derby College Group (DCG) have clinched a coveted silver medal in the Erewash in Bloom awards for the third year running.

The high standards of planting and ground maintenance at DCG’s Ilkeston Community College have been recognised again in the category for business, commercial and places of worship which was jointly won by Treetops Hospice in Risley and Brooklands Court in Long Eaton.
