Bursary Awards For Derby College Group Students

Two Derby College Group (DCG) Art & Design students have won bursaries from Arts Society Derby to support their move into Higher Education.

UAL Art Foundation Diploma student Maisie Bull (19) from Littleover has won £400 and £200 has been awarded Leanne Bailey (18) from Cromford.

Derbyshire Open Arts: Annual General Meeting 2021

Exhibition at Elvaston Castle

'Epic Forest - An inner walk through the seasons' is a new Artist in Residence Exhibition by Howie Johnson, taking place this year in Gothic Hall at Elvaston Castle.

The main feature of the exhibition is that you will be able to walk through the four seasons in the woods; with Howie's photographic images printed onto large chiffons. Other prints will also be available to view.

Training Programme Launch Supports Local SME Growth

A programme to support the training and development of employees at local small and medium sized businesses has been launched, thanks to funding from the European Social Fund.

Funding is available to pay for individuals to complete ILM and Team Leading qualifications at Derby College Group (DCG) which are designed to upskill employees in leadership and management that supports business growth, productivity and competitive edge.

Portrait exhibition hopes to reunite paintings with the people featured in them

The family of artist Don Yarrington have curated an exhibition of their father’s work with a difference which is open to the public at West Studios, on the Chesterfield College campus, over the next few weeks. The exhibition of the local artist’s portraits isn’t designed to sell the late artist’s work, but rather to reunite the portraits with their sitters. Don created these portraits of art students when he was the Head of Fine Art and later Acting Principal of Chesterfield College of Art in the 1970s and 80s. 

Guided Walks Unlock Historic Tales of Derby Ram Trail Backdrop

Free guided heritage and ghost walks have been organised around the city centre as part of the activity programme to coincide with the popular Derby Ram Trail this summer.

Derby Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), in partnership with Derby Museums, have organised the guided walks to showcase the areas’ hidden treasures which are the historic backdrop to the Derby Ram Trail as well as the ghostly stories linked to the landmark buildings and events.
