Our annual Maker Faire returns this year with a new name – Assemble – Derby’s very own Festival of Making. And what better place to hold a Festival championing makers and their work than at the new Museum of Making, located at Derby Silk Mill on what is widely regarded as the site of the world’s first factory?

We’re inviting makers from across the country, with projects of all shapes and sizes, to showcase their work at Assemble in October, and to share their passion and skills, talk about their processes and encourage others to have a go at making themselves.

Mature students at Derby College Group’s Broomfield Hall have designed and planted a flowerbed in Horsley Woodhouse to commemorate the important role that the village played in World War Two.

Horsley Woodhouse was home to three factories which were opened at the beginning of the war following concerns that the main Rolls-Royce factory in Derby would be targeted by German bombers.

Safe and Sound, the Derbyshire based child exploitation charity, is supporting this summer’s NCS programme with a series of awareness raising sessions for young people.

Safe and Sound supports children and young people across Derbyshire who are victims of or at risk of child exploitation which includes online grooming, sexual exploitation, County Lines, Modern Slavery and trafficking as well as supporting their families and raising awareness of the issues in local communities.

Derby Museums and NAS are proud to introduce the 25 creative entrepreneurs selected to the 2021 cohort of UK Creative Community Fellows. Celebrating its second year, the fellowship is a learning and collaboration experience for individuals using the power of arts and culture to drive transformational change in communities throughout the UK.
