Canal Trust Steps Up Fund Raising Efforts With New Appointment

Derby & Sandiacre Canal Trust has appointed its first dedicated fund raiser to drive forward ambitious plans to bring the former Derby Canal back to its former glory.

The Trust was founded in 1993 with the aim of restoring a 12.5 mile stretch between Derby and Sandiacre to connect to the Trent and Mersey and Erewash Canals. This would create a 25 mile ring with access to more than 2,000 miles of navigable waterways across the UK.

Toyota City Commemorative Gift

Derbyshire County Council is offering artists the opportunity to create a commemorative item to mark the 20th anniversary of the international relationship between Toyota City and the three councils, Derbyshire County Council, Derby City Council and South Derbyshire District Council.  The item will be sited in Japan and the maximum budget is £2,000

In 2016 six artists, living and working in the East Midlands, were selected to take part in Document, a project that set out to tell their story, in their voice. Since then the Contemporary Visual Arts Network East Midlands (CVAN EM) has worked with those artists as they have reflected on their practice and captured their experiences.

BELPER ARTS FESTIVAL AWARDED NATIONAL LOTTERY GRANT

National Lottery support for Belper Arts Festival to mark First World War Centenary

Today Belper Arts Festival has received £4800 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for a project, IN WARTIME 1917 -  1922 in Belper. Made possible by National Lottery players , the project will focus on life in Belper during the last two years of the First World War and the aftermath.

DCAS Young Peoples Art Exhibition

Donut Creative Arts Studio (DCAS) in Chesterfield are holding their annual art exhibition ‘Read Between the Lines’ on 14th – 18th May 2018. All the wonderful creative work has been made by young people who attend the centre and is based on the theme of books. ‘Read Between the Lines’ will showcase 2D, 3D art and media work and we would love you to come and have a look. The exhibition will be available for viewing Monday 14th to Friday 18th May 9am till 5pm,
