AAA Award for Pollyanna

Passionate about wildlife and equally passionate about accurately interpreting her subjects Wildlife Artist Pollyanna Pickering has dedicated her life to conservation through art.

And now she is honoured to have received the Association of Animal Artists most prestigious award, which was presented at their Annual Gala Dinner last Saturday. The Inaugural Chairman’s Award is presented to the artist who is considered to have most significantly raised the profile of wildlife art in the last twelve months.

Nominated for Best Show at Buxton Fringe 2015

After a hugely successful run at the Buxton Fringe in 2015, Stockport-based Far West Theatre return to the festival in 2016. Revised, rewritten and rejuvenated, the show will once again appear at the Green Man Gallery in Buxton on 8th, 13th, 17th, 23rd and 24th July (all at 7pm).

Comedy extravaganza at Buxton Fringe

Comedy has always been a strong category in the Fringe and this year is proving no exception with established names such as Max & Ivan, Alfie Moore and controversial magician/comedian Jerry Sadowitz joining a host of new names, many on route for Edinburgh.

“It’s Shakespeare, but not as you know it!”

Firm favourites Oddsocks Productions are back in town with an exciting new look at one of Shakespeare’s classics. Macbeth will take to the stage in Markeaton Park on 15th, 16th, 17th June with a hearty dosage of Oddsocks inimitable comedy.

Oddsocks Productions was set up 26 years ago by Andy Barrow and Elli Mackenzie and is a critically acclaimed nationally touring theatre company who take classic texts and create bold, challenging, innovative and interactive theatre to be enjoyed by everyone!

School Pupils Graduate From Vocational Programmes

More than 100 pupils at schools across Derby and Derbyshire have graduated from  two-year vocational study programmes at Derby College.

Year 11 pupils from Heanor Gate Science College, Merrill Academy, Allestree Woodlands, Derby Moor Community Sports College,  Alfreton Grange Arts College, Frederick Gent, Murray Park Community, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar, Friesland, Brookfield Community, Bemrose Community, Netherthorpe,  Tupton Hall, St Martin’s schools, as well as young people who have been educated at home, were presented with certificates to mark the end of their course.

A FREE concert at The Belper Arts Festival

Because of the success of the BELPER MUSIC FESTIVAL in particular and the BELPER ARTS FESTIVAL in general, it has been decided that the concert by EASTWOOD COLLIERY MALE VOICE CHOIR will be FREE ADMISSION

St Peter’s Church, Chesterfield Road, Belper on Saturday 28th May, first notes at 7.30pm.
