Last night, Derby's iconic Roundhouse played host to the eleventh annual Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards. 

Hosted by Nick Britten, the Awards brought together 300 delegates and customers from establishments across Derby's thriving food and drink scene with Bondholder The Palfrey winning Restaurant of the Year.

Derby Conference Centre launches FREE events membership programme

One of the counties premier venues, The Derby Conference Centre, is launching a free Events Membership programme. The programme, launching on Monday 7th October, is open to anyone and entitles visitors to special offers, discounted rates on food and drinks and reduced prices for rooms at the on-site hotel. Event Members will also receive early access to tickets and exclusive competitions.

Staging a scandal puts Buxton in the running for top UK theatre award

Buxton International Festival has confirmed its place as one of the nation’s leading opera producing companies with a nomination in this year’s UK Theatre Awards for its world premiere of Georgiana, the story of the life and scandalous times of the most controversial Duchess of Devonshire.   

The critically acclaimed production was especially commissioned for the Festival’s 40th anniversary programme this year, and was written and produced by a team led by its Chief Executive Officer Michael Williams.

Artist Residencies at Ashgate Hospicecare

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for two artists to work in residence with Ashgate Hospicecare. Beginning in January 2020 the paid residencies will also include valuable training and support about working in the specialist palliative care setting.

 

Bombardier smashes £1bn mark

Turnover has smashed through the £1bn mark at Derby-headquartered Bombardier Transportation UK, new figures have revealed.

Newly filed accounts for the year to 31 December 2018 show the business achieved a turnover of £1.24bn, up from £834.2m.

Blazing a trail

Bondholder Derby Museums is inviting artists from across Derbyshire and beyond to submit their designs for the Derby Ram Trail, a unique public art event that will take place in the city centre next summer.

The Trail will see 30, five-foot ram sculptures threaded across the city in a free-to-view art event that will raise valuable funds for Derby Museums through sponsorship and auction. Marketing Derby is proud to be a Derby Ram Trail sponsor. 

Bennetts saved by The Bell

Paul Hurst, owner of Bondholder The Old Bell Hotel on Sadler Gate, has stepped in to keep Derby's much-loved Bennetts brand alive both on the high street and online.

Mr Hurst has secured the fixed assets and goodwill of Bennetts – the world’s oldest independent department store – with plans well underway to create a new retail website showcasing iconic brands from Derby and the UK.
