Lubrizol praises mental health projects after it gives them a £250 helping hand

Derbyshire chemical company Lubrizol UK has praised the organisers of two online mental health projects after they won an online Dragons’ Den-style charity pitch event that was sponsored by the firm.

The company, based in Hazelwood, has congratulated Gaby Goodchild and Helen Woodford, who walked away with £700 and £300 respectively for their new ventures after taking part in the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Soup online event last week.

Wathall’s Step Up Support Programme For Local Charities

Family-owned funeral directors, Wathall’s, have brought forward its year-long community support programme in light of the pandemic to ensure local charities have the support they need now.

A Wathall’s Wish was originally launched in January and planned to support a different charity every month with money, volunteering or donations of goods and services.

The company earmarked charities operating in and around the communities in which it has branches – Derby’s St Peters Quarter, Alvaston, Ashbourne, Burton-on-Trent and Borrowash.

Online Photography Competition 'NATURE'

We might not be able to hold our annual Dronfield Wildlife & Natural History Group photography competition this year, but you can still get involved with a fun online competition we're running instead!

The theme is of 'nature', and you can enter up to five photos taken at any time within the last year. Images must not have been previously entered in our previous photography competitions. Please list image titles and dates taken in your email.

I'm in my what seems like the hundredth week of lockdown although technically I can go out if I want to but, I don't yet want too so I'm not! I'm hoping that soon I will feel confident enough to venture out there once the transmission figures look safe enough!

But in the meantime the dissertation continues although I've handed a draft over to my supervisor so I can have a break while she looks over it. There's still an awful lot of chip shop waffling I need to do yet!

Derby Museums launches Derby Museums from Home microsite

Derby Museums today launches its brand new microsite, Derby Museums from Home, making new online content accessible throughout the lockdown.

The hashtag, #MuseumFromHome, first emerged on social media in March as museums around the world were forced to close in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. It has since grown to become a global phenomenon with museums near and far taking to the web to showcase their collections digitally and engage with their audiences in all manner of creative and innovative ways.
