Proposals are being drawn-up by Derbyshire County Council for a Festival of Derbyshire to boost tourism – bringing new investment and creating more jobs.
The festival, which is proposed to be held in 2020/21, would celebrate a series of key cultural and historic anniversaries for the county – including the 70th anniversary of the Peak District National Park and 20 years since Derwent Valley Mills became a World Heritage Site – and would help promote Derbyshire to national and international audiences.
A Derby business which delivers parcels safe and sound to customers across the county and beyond have teamed up with a specialist local charity for a week of awareness and fund raising.
Derby Express Couriers will be inviting 50 business customers to join in a giant game of Pass the Parcel from Sunday May 12 which is National Children’s Awareness Day.
Derby College Group’s Roundhouse Events team are hosting a ‘Matilda’ family film screening based on Roald Dahl’s award-winning book.
The film screening is part of Derby Book Festival’s packed programme of events which is aimed at appealing to all ages and offers a diverse range of events.
The fifth Derby Book Festival will be held from Friday 31 May to Saturday 8 June 2019.
Students at Derby College Group (DCG) took part in a wide range of activities and events as part of World Autism Week.
DCG was the first further education college in the East Midlands to be officially recognised by Autism East Midlands for its work to support students with Autism.

Bondholder Nurton Developments has welcomed leading out-of-hospital care provider Totally plc to its Cardinal Square office scheme in Derby in a deal brokered by Bondholder Rigby & Co.
Totally plc has relocated its head office from London and taken 7,000 ft 2 at Cardinal Square.
This September, Derby Museums’ celebrated Orrery painting by Joseph Wright will travel to the Science Museum in London as part of an exciting new project exploring the relationship between art and science over the past 250 years: The Art of Innovation: From Enlightenment to Dark Matter.

Join Masters students as they explore the latest debates in Global Heritage at the University of Derby’s annual Public History & Heritage symposium.
MA students are inviting you to join them as they take to the floor at the University of Derby to examine how conflict, political discourse, tourism and environmental challenges are effecting heritage across the globe. The Symposium entitled Ugly Politics, Fragile World? will take place on Wednesday 5th June 2019 at the University’s Kedleston Road campus.
