6th Annual Short Story Competition

Title - Blue

There will be three age categories, judged separately: Junior school (7-11 years), secondary school (11-16years), and adult (over 16 years).

Authors can choose any genre, but prose submissions only; 1000 words maximum.

Each winner will receive a £25 prize and their entry will be published (if they agree) on the Chapel Arts website.

The rules are as follows:
1. Your story, ‘Blue’, may be any length up to 1000 words (excluding title) but no longer.
2. The story must be your own unaided work.
3. It must not have been published, including privately on a website, and must not have been
submitted to any other competition.
4. The deadline for submissions is 14 th February 2021.
5. Typed manuscripts are preferred but neatly hand-written ones will be accepted.
6. Do NOT put your name or any contact details on your manuscript. Those details (name,
address, e-mail, phone number) should be given in a covering letter accompanying the
manuscript.

7. The letter should also state whether you’re in the 7-11, 11-16 or over-16 age category. If
you’re in the 7-11 or 11-16 category, please say how old you are.
8. The manuscript and letter should be sent to: CA Creative Writing Competition, 16 Cotton
Close, Whaley Bridge, SK23 7GG.
9. The receiver will put a code number on both the letter and the manuscript before sending
the manuscript to the judges. When the adjudication is finished the judges will tell the
receiver the code numbers of the winning entries. The receiver will then use the number to
identify the successful authors, who will then be informed.
10. The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. They will
provide general feedback on the entries.
