Work starts on first phase of £340m regeneration scheme

Work has started on the first phase of a major £340 million regeneration scheme. 

Construction work is now underway on One Waterside Place, a building that represents the first phase of the Basin Square character area, within the Chesterfield Waterside regeneration scheme.

When complete, the seven-storey office building will provide Grade A offices totalling 32,000 sq ft, alongside a retail unit of circa 5,200 sq ft.

Construction of the property is well underway and delivery is estimated in September.

Community plays its part for new park equipment

The popular play area at Chaddesden Park has had a makeover, thanks to the park’s Friends, who worked hard to secure over £15,000 in funding from the local community. Children can now enjoy a junior swing set, a timber trim trail and soon, a new roundabout. 

Alstom completes $6.7bn deal to buy Bombardier

French train-maker Alstom has completed a multi-billion dollar deal to buy the rail business of Bombardier, which has a major site in Derby.

Alstom said the price for the deal to buy Bombardier Transportation, which includes its train-making site in Litchurch Lane, was $6.7 billion (£5 billion).

The acquisition should make Alstom the world’s second largest train-maker, behind China’s CRRC.

Lubrizol puts heart and soul into breaking fundraising record

The coronavirus outbreak has not stopped staff at a Derbyshire company from running, baking and quizzing their way to raising a record-breaking sum of money for the firm’s chosen charity.

Employees at Lubrizol, in Hazelwood, near Belper, have collected a total of £ 18,396 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) by organising and supporting a series of activities over the past two years.

Derby College to get £780k government T-Levels boost

Plans by Derby College Group to upgrade its facilities in order to deliver T-Levels has received a further six-figure boost from the Government.

The college has been awarded a £780,000 grant to create new laboratory and integrated IT facilities for students who will join the second stage of the T-Levels roll out programme this September.
