Derby gastro pub to serve breakfast as it looks to bring more diners through the doors

A POPULAR Derby gastro pub will start serving breakfasts as it looks to bring more diners through its doors.

Easton Andrea, who owns House of Darwin, in Shelton Lock, says that the decision has been made as the pub looks to boost revenue following a difficult year for the hospitality industry.

Earlier this week, the government announced that pubs and restaurants must shut by 10pm every day after an increase in coronavirus cases in England. Venues that are licensed to sell alcohol – like House of Darwin – are restricted by law to table service only.

Venues reminded to display a QR code

QR codeThe new NHS Covid-19 app requires pubs, restaurants, hairdressers and other venues to display a poster with a QR code so that customers can check in.

Customers checking in on entry with their phone will support the NHS Test and Trace scheme.

An Update from the Buxton International Festival Office

It’s hard to believe that September is upon us. The leaves are turning brown and the nights are closing in but at the Buxton festival office there are signs of life. We had a wonderful response to our experiment with a digital season. Yes, I know it was no substitute for a live performance or indeed for the experience of attending the festival, but it seemed that many of you appreciated our efforts. The amount of effort that went into delivering the Digital Season when everyone was on furlough was incredible.

Gallery News - Forthcoming Show - 'Small Worlds' - Lois Wallace

The Old Lock Up Gallery is currently closed whilst the forthcoming show is installed. I'm delighted to be exhibiting 'Small Worlds' - solo show of work by Lois Wallace. Lois won the solo show prize last year in the gallery's annual open. The exhibition promises to be another stunning show of work - all pieces are relatively small in size and beautifully executed in oils.

Enjoy the Autumn Sessions at Derby Market Place

The seasons are changing, and so is Derby Market Place. Building on its successful launch as an outdoor dining space, more will be on offer during October and November as the area hosts sessions of outdoor entertainment, a celebration of local Derby breweries, and its first market.
