Who is Wendy Garvey Children’s Author?

Born in Derby I have lived in Derbyshire all my life. I am a self-published author of two Children's Rhyming Picture Books (with a third currently being illustrated by the very talented artist – Monster-Nip also from and based in Derbyshire). I have a further five books to release, two of which will be ready next year for illustrations also. I published my first book in 2022 as a keepsake for my son to remind him of a tale I told him about the animals on the Derbyshire Country Lanes that we would see daily. My second and future books draw inspiration my home and garden in the beautifully rugged Derbyshire Dales (close to Carsington Water).

My Children's Rhyming Picture Books are delightful whimsical tales to enjoy with your little one’s time and time again! My first book is a mystery of why the animals of the countryside are holding up the traffic each day and includes the ingredients to make a Victoria sponge cake. My second book shows children that when they feel sad and lonely, they just need to take one step outside of their comfort zone to meet new friends and what amazing fun is waiting for them. My current book is all about perseverance to finally find somewhere to belong. All my books feature the same and sometimes new animals and can be read in any order.
