The Belper Games ( a huge community event) was born in 2012, the brainchild of a local family in order to raise money for medication not available on the NHS for Penny Wheeler.
It was a great success but sadly Penny lost her battle in December that year to her illness.
It was her wish that the games should continue, and continue it has!
After joining forces with another local like minded fundraising couple it now raises money for 3 rare charities, The Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust, Ataxia UK & The Scleroderma Society. Plus local causes and projects.
It has grown into a massive annual event featuring 24 teams of 10 local people taking part in an it's a knockout style competition.
There is live music all day featuring lots of local talent, an outdoor market, attractions, something for everyone.
Attendances have been over 4000 and they keep growing.
It has filled the gap that the old carnivals left many years ago.
To date it has raised over £30,000 for charity and we are now back for our 4th Year! Sat 18th July at Belper Rugby Club
The team are always on the lookout for new stallholders, volunteers, attractions, local talent of any kind and sponsors.
