From crafter to entrepreneur: Making and selling your own organic skincare products to the public is a more advanced workshop, developed for those who are considering turning their hobby into a business or who would like to know about the legal requirements of making their skincare products available to the public.

Once you have learned the basics of making skincare products, you may well become hooked! If you would like to take your knowledge and skills to another level, either for yourself and family or to start a business, this workshop is for you. We will explore how to keep up-to-date with new ingredients, trends and research, and importantly, new legislation.

We will share our ideas of what we think makes a good product and how to provide exemplary customer service, whether we are planning to open an e-commerce site or sell at craft fayres. Selling cosmetics and skincare products to the public can be a minefield for the unwary, and we will discuss the legal requirements, both UK and EU legislation and selling to the worldwide market.

At the end of the day, you will have learned:
• What the UK and EU legal requirements are for selling skincare to the public;
• How to prepare records to comply with current UK and EU legislation;
• How to keep your knowledge up-to-date;
• How to identify ethical considerations for your business;
• Tips and ideas for developing new and exciting products.

Ideally, you will have some knowledge of aromatherapy and/or skincare to make the best of this workshop. It is ideal for aromatherapists and massage therapists who would like to extend their practice by selling their own products to the public, or for anyone who loves making their own skincare products and would like to start their own Indie brand.

You can receive 5 CPD points with the FHT for attending the workshop, and you can gain further points by using the experience to, for example, write a reflective piece of work relating to your practice, a case study, or a business or marketing plan.
