Radio Banska in Concert A “Live & Local” show at Crich Glebe Field Centre on Sunday 18th October 2015 – 7:30 pm

Bath-based instrumental quintet Radio Banska rip up the file marked ‘genre’ and throw the resultant musical confetti in the air for all to dance around in! This world jazz quintet play a stunning array of genre-defying Latin, eastern European, Middle Eastern, and fusion compositions delivered with passion and style. They will take you on an exciting tour of musical influences from around the world, from Morocco, Jamaica and Buenos Aires to Paris, Budapest and the Balkans.

Introducing Bolsover Stories, a two-day festival of arts happening all across Bolsover Town - with theatre and film, poetry and puppetry, photography and sculpture (not to mention painting with pedals, Bolsover Bingo and a moveable museum) taking place at indoor and outdoor venues from Carr Vale to the castle - and most of it is FREE.

FIRST WORLD WAR: DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES

The Derbyshire Lives through the First World War project is holding a free event at Chesterfield Library to provide advice to communities planning to commemorate the end of the First World War in 2018.

Poem a Month – World Alzheimer’s Day

This is a special post to mark World Alzheimer's Day.  One of the entries we received for the Poem a Month writing competition was by Glyn Evans who wrote about his wife who lives with dementia. Keep on Going is an honest and touching poem about their shared experiences now and in the past. We felt that many people would identify with his thoughts and the poem deserved a wider audience.

Prickly Skills on Offer at Derby College

The Animal Care team at Derby College’s Broomfield Hall are holding one-day workshops to help local people learn more about caring for ‘prickly’ pets and visitors to their gardens.

A Hedgehog Ecology and Conservation workshop will be held at Broomfield Hall on Saturday October 17 between 10am and 3pm.

DALEDIVA THANKS SUPPORTERS AS IT SETS OFF TO TAKE ON THE WORLD!

Derbyshire women’s chorus DaleDiva is saying a huge thank you to its fans and supporters as it sets off to compete in the World Championships next week.

Following more than a year fund-raising events the award-winning group is off to take on the world at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The Divas won gold in national competition last May which earned them the opportunity to represent their region and their country in the USA this year.

A passion for quality as Michelin-trained chef sparks rebirth of The Three Horseshoes

Food lovers in Derbyshire will be able to welcome a new face and venue to the county next week, as The Three Horseshoes in Long Lane, Ashbourne, reopens this Friday after major investment.

Acquired by recently formed pub group, Berkeley Inns Ltd, in April of this year, The Three Horseshoes kitchen will be headed up by Michelin trained head chef Gareth Ward (34), working with an experienced, 6-strong team.

Pub manager Peter Petroullakis and restaurant manager Andrea Ruberto lead a new team of 22 bar and restaurant staff.
