Derby College Students Release Rescued Hedgehogs Back Into the Wild

Animal Care learners at Derby College’s Broomfield Hall have successfully released two hedgehogs back into the wild having spent the winter looking after them.

The hedgehogs, which learners named Apollo and Barry, were all found locally last Autumn and were too small and under-nourished to hibernate. They were taken in by the Animal Care department and learners have kept them at a constant indoor temperature to keep them awake and ensured they have been well fed over the winter months.

CQ Saturdays Street Circus Set To Top the Bill in Cathedral Quarter

CQ Saturdays Street Circus returns to Derby’s Cathedral Quarter on Saturday May 14 with a day of free entertainment at the Waterfall stage in the Market Place.

The Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) has again teamed up with outdoor performance specialists Déda Producing for the entertainment which will be held on the second Saturday of every month in the run up to Derby Festé in September (Friday September 23 and Saturday September 24).

Show Garden Raises Awareness of Multiple Sclerosis

Horticulture staff and students at Derby College have teamed up with The Multiple Sclerosis Society, Derby and District Branch to create a unique plant border that will be exhibited and judged at BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2016 at Birmingham’s NEC this June.

Wildlife Artist Pollyanna Pickering is proud to present an exhibition inspired by her recent expedition into the jungles of Indonesia. Over 50 paintings will be exhibited to the public for the first time from the 18th June – 3rd July in the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of her private gallery at Brookvale House, Oaker, near Matlock (AA signposted). Visitors will be welcome between 10.00am – 6.00pm each day, admission free.

Bakewell’s 14th International Day of Dance

For one day every year, the picturesque town of Bakewell hosts a stunning celebration of world music and dance, heralding the start of Bakewell Carnival Week. On Saturday 25th June up to 30 groups will be displaying dance styles from around the world at 8 outdoor venues from 11.00am to 4.30pm.

New Mills Festival Launches Call For Visual Arts 2016

New Mills Festival is delighted to invite submissions from artists across the UK to take part in a two-week long Art Trail. The Trail forms part of the Festival which takes place across New Mills from the 9th to the 25th September 2016. Submissions open on 20th March 2016 and close on midnight 15th May 2016.
