Grant Secured To Help Restore Broomfield Hall Gardens To Former Glory

Derby College’s Broomfield Hall has secured a £4,000 grant to further improve the campus grounds and boost its appeal as a visitor attraction. The support from the Stanley Smith (UK) Horticultural Trust will enable the horticulture team at Broomfield to help restore the Victorian gardens to their former glory – buying new plants, shrubs and semi mature trees.

The Buxton Spa Prize 2016– Over 100 artists entered

Over 100 artists of all ages and abilities from the local area and UK have entered The Buxton Spa Prize 2016 to paint the town in the open air (en plein air) during May and June. The prize which was successfully launched in 2014 aims to raise the profile of artists and their work and further enhance Buxton’s national reputation as a centre for arts and culture.  

Award-Winning Jenson Button Trust Triathlon Returns To City – Sunday July 17

The Jenson Button Trust Triathlon, which won Event of the Year in the recent 220 Triathlon national awards, will return to Derby on Sunday July 17.

The event, which previously took place near Luton, was held at Markeaton Park for the first time in July 2015 when hundreds of competitors took part – cheered on by thousands of spectators in the park and along the cycle route through the city centre.

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust's Carsington Water Walk raises over £2550

165 people took part in the Carsington Water Walk to raise money for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust on Sunday the 8th of May. The wonderful weather and the beautiful scenery of Carsington Water provided the perfect backdrop for a spot of fundraising, with the Trust raising over £2550, which will enable them to take more young people, in recovery from cancer, out sailing to rebuild their confidence.

Derby Riverlights set to host University of Derby Fine Art Exhibition

Talented second year University of Derby Fine Art students will be exhibiting their work, titled Archive 32 to the public from 21st-27th May at The Boulevard, Derby Riverlights.

The collaboration between the University and Derby Riverlights allows the 32 students to make connections with the public, businesses and organisations beyond the University campus and gives them more opportunities for professional practice and new experiences in the city.

The DerwentWISE Partnership has been awarded £1.7 million by the Heritage Lottery Fund to deliver a £2.5 million landscape partnership project in the Lower Derwent Valley, stretching from Matlock Bath to Derby, the setting for the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

Art in the Window 2016- Call for Artists and Artisan Makers

This summer we aim for over 50 independent retailers on the streets of Glossop, Hadfield, Charlesworth, Gamesley and Simmondley to take part in Art in the Window - Glossopdale; literally providing a shop window for artists and artisan makers in the Glossop area.
 
This year’s event is run by Glossop Arts Project and the Art in the Window team in collaboration with Glossopdale Trust. The exhibition event will take place from 1st – 31st August  2016.
 
We are looking for amateur and professional artists as well as local students to display their work.
