Youth-led theatre company seeks new performers for summer season!
Calling all performers aged 10–30! PB Theatricals Youth Theatre are looking for young actors/singers to join us for our summer 2022 performance season.
Since 2009, we have been rehearsing and performing two performances within a concentrated rehearsal period. This year our shows are Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance (for ages 16–30), and The Sorcerer (for ages 10–18).
We are a warm and welcoming local theatre company, and we pride ourselves in offering theatrical experiences to people who have little-to-no experience in theatre. There is no need to audition to participate in our chorus, and everyone who takes part will be supported and encouraged by our friendly production team. Many of our performers have made life-long friendships from our productions, and we are proud of our welcoming and supportive environment. We have previously featured in Derbyshire Life magazine, and past shows have received glowing reviews from the national amateur dramatics society, NODA.
Pirates of Penzance, for performers aged 16–30, is a swashbuckling adventure set on the rocky shores of west Penwith, Cornwall! Young pirate apprentice Frederic has had his life on the high-seas turned on his head when he meets the love of his dreams, Mabel, the beautiful daughter of a Major-General. He soon finds his loyalties torn between his piratical life of crime and the woman he loves!
Rehearsals for this production begin after the auditions at 10am on Saturday 30th July 2022 at the Chapel Playhouse in Chapel-en-le-Frith. Rehearsals will take place between 10am–5pm from 30th July to 5th August at the Chapel Playhouse. Our performances will take place on the evening of 5th August at the Chapel Playhouse, and the evening of 6th August at the Bakewell Medway Centre.
The Sorcerer, for performers aged 10–18, is a magical adventure in which love is pushed to its very limits. The villagers of Poverleigh have their lives turned all topsy-turvy when a mischievous Sorcerer slips a love potion into everyone’s tea, causing everyone to fall in love with the wrong person!
Rehearsals for this production begin at the auditions at 10am on Sunday 7th August at the Medway Centre, Bakewell (again, there is no requirement to audition if you wish to be in our chorus!). Rehearsals will take place between 10am-5pm from 7th August to 13th August at the Medway Centre, Bakewell. The performances will be on the evening of the 13th August at the Medway Centre, and the afternoon of the 14th August at the Chapel Playhouse, Chapel-en-le-Frith.
We are offering early-bird registration fees this season! If you register before 1st July, you only pay £50 for the whole week (after 1st July, this will go up to £60). We aim to be as welcoming as possible, so if you are concerned about costs, we have a number of bursaries available. Please get in touch with us at pbtyouththeatre@gmail.com.
