What's happening at Hubbub

While we all have to stay at home to keep safe and well, we wanted to get in touch and let you know what's happening at Hubbub. Even through challenging times we are still here to spread hope and kindness through some exciting new ways of working...

Hubbub At Home!

Our Hub weekly sessions and Actor Training Programme are now accessible to all of our participants and actors online! Our Creative Enablers and team of freelances are working hard behind the scenes to put together weekly online workshops so our actors don't miss a beat when it comes to their training and The Hub can keep connected and creative. This will continue whilst we are unable to meet in person in order to continue our work. This new facilitation is helping the actors experience creativity through digital technologies and engaging them in a whole new way!  100% of people said it made them feel more connected and 90% said it made them feel happier and healthier.

We have already had some great feedback around how "good it is to feel connected particularly in these strange times"

'The Drum'

The creative development process for our new indoor show 'The Drum' has been fantastic. Working with Movement Collaborator Helen Baggett from Gecko Theatre, Chris Yarnell (The Outbound Project), Laura Ryder (The B Team) and Ines Sampaio Figueiredo in November and February, our actors engaged in a devising process, creating ideas to bring the story of The Drum to life. The rehearsal room was full, of people and ideas!  The Drum progress!

We would love to be inviting you to join us for 'The Drum' sharing which was scheduled for 14th May at Deda. This is not possible now but we are working towards an event as soon as possible. We will share films of the work we have created so far and also the documentary of The Hubbub Way - our way of working and making theatre. More details will be posted as we have them. Please contact us if you would like to be on the invitation list.

The Drum workshops have also been a huge hit..... and you can do it at home too!

Our facilitators have been delivering workshops based on 'The Drum' in learning disabled organisations, arts venues, universities and schools across Derby and Derbyshire. Feedback from Alternatives Activity Centre, "it is rare that our learners participate and maintain concentration for so long. I was really delighted with how many people engaged with the workshop". As we had to cancel a week of workshops due to Corona Virus, we have created a video workshop for all of our organisations to work with... and you can too! The link is here and we would love to see your videos and photos of the work you do @HubbubTheatre #TheDrum #ViralKindness #HubbubAtHome

We will also be offering short videos of exercises, movement sessions, gentle yoga and relaxation over the next weeks and months. Look out on our website, YouTube Channel and social media.. or let us know if you would like things emailed directly to you.... everyone is welcome to join in and the exercises are suitable for all ages and abilities.
