Super-Powering Girls and their Grannies

We are excited to announce that we have received almost £60,000 from Arts Council England and the Lottery’s AWA fund to mount a ground-breaking new aerial theatre show for families. Aidy the Awesome is an aerial theatre show about 8 year-old Aidy who discovers she is a superhero after her grandmother tells her a secret- all women in their family have super powers.

Aidy and her awesome granny embark on an adventure that will turn their world upside down. Aimed at 3-8-year olds and their families, the show intends to highlight to young women that they too can be strong, resilient and empowered. The show will premiere at Lakeside Arts and Déda Derby in July 2020. The show will be visiting Déda Derby and Lakeside Theatre amongst others in summer 2020!

How you can get involved...

Part of the funding will be used to create a series of participatory, intergenerational, FREE workshops with grandmothers and granddaughters (5-12 year olds) at Nottingham Playhouse and other venues.

The drama workshops will give grandmothers and granddaughters quality time together to be creative and see them creating their own super-hero duo characters. The first two workshops will take place on the 30th Nov and 14th December, 10-11.30am at Nottingham Playhouse. If you'd like to book a place please email gramophonestheatre@googlemail.com or call Hannah 07929168436
