Street Entertainment Continues in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter

CQ Saturdays Knickerbocker Glorious, Derby’s premier outdoor variety showcase, returns to the Cathedral Quarter on Saturday October 17 with a great line up of free entertainment.

CQ Saturdays Knickerbocker Glorious takes place between 11am and 3pm at The Waterfall Stage in the Market Place.

The line-up will include the Ripley Green Garters Morris Dancing Troupe who will make their CQ Saturdays debut.  Also performing will be Belper singer/songwriter Amy Illingworth and a special preview of Streetlight Theatre Arts ‘American Idiot’.

Meanwhile, Handcrafted at the Cathedral Quarter will be held between 10am and 4pm under the Guildhall arches and behind the Waterfall – showcasing a wide range of handmade and designed fine art, homewares, jewellery, giftware and artisan food from producers across the Midlands.

Both events will continue throughout the autumn on the third Saturday of the month and are produced by the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Derby arts promoters Furthest from the Sea.

Paul Hurst, vice chair of the Cathedral Quarter Management Group, said: “The resounding success recently of Derby Festé and Derby Folk Festival has reminded people that Derby is a festival city and the Cathedral Quarter is always at the heart of the action.

“The CQ Saturdays events programme has delighted visitors throughout the year and we will continue to provide vibrant street entertainment in the Cathedral Quarter in the run up to Christmas and beyond.”

Additional CQ Saturday Knickerbocker Glorious events will be taking place over the festive period with further events to be held on  28 November, 5 and 12 December  in addition to the third Saturdays of the month.
