Six award winners!

Six award winners!

An exhibition celebrating six of our artists who have won prestigious awards:
Lewis Noble, Kerri Pratt, Anna Thomas, Wendy Darker, Sue Lewis-Blake and Mark Langley

from 1st - 25th September 2020

In order to observe Covid19 guidelines we will not be able to have a preview of the exhibition. However, if you buy an original painting by any of these artists, you will receive complimentary bottles of estate wine, supplied by Vintage Expectations Wine Club.

We are proud to include the work of six of our artists in our special ‘Award Winning Artists Exhibition’ during the month of September:

Two of our artists are previous recipients of the Jonathan Vickers Fine Art Award – Lewis Noble in 2001 and Kerri Pratt who received the award in 2014-2015. The award was established by Foundation Derbyshire with the help of a legacy from the estate of the late Jonathan Vickers. The aim of the award is to assist an emerging artist to the county to produce a lasting legacy of contemporary work inspired by the county’s landscape, heritage and people. Lewis is currently one of the best known and respected artists in the Midlands, and Kerri an established and successful Derbyshire artist.

Anna Thomas was winner of the Derbyshire Trophy 2014, with her painting “Sheep on Hard Ground" which is now part of the Buxton Museum and Art Gallery's permanent collection. In 2019, she was elected into MAFA, the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts. Another of her paintings “ October Saturday” was purchased by State Art Collection, Office of Public Works, Dublin, Ireland.

Wendy Darker is the winner of various prizes: the prestigious ‘Gift of the Year’ award from the Giftware Association; ‘Best Peak Business’ award for the most successful enterprise in the area; and her painting “Mara Crossing’ was a finalist in the ‘International Wildlife Artist of the Year’ competition, 2016.

Sue Lewis-Blake received the 2017 Derbyshire County Council Award for her oil painting on canvas “Sunday”. In 2012 she was elected to the National Society of Graphic Fine Art [The Drawing Society].

Mark Langley received the Best Pure Coloured Pencil Award in the Annual Open Exhibition 2019 UK Coloured Pencil Society for 'Clumber Park Long Range Greenhouse'. He also received the People's Choice Award in the Keswick Derwent Pencil Museum virtual exhibition 2020 for 'Tom, Georgia and Isla'
