Pomegranate Youth Theatre and Gekkota Arts

Do you know the stories of the local women who fought for your vote? The women who used their experience of fighting for workers' rights to help galvanise women across the country? It's time we put them on the map. Come and help us do this as part of NOT WORDS, an HLF funded project which uncovers Derbyshire women and their stories.

Fists of protest: Join Professional Artist Bella Milroy for this practical workshop.

What does protest mean to you? how can we capture this through visual formats? drawing on the images used for banners and posters of the suffragette movement that relied solely on images, this workshop will capture the essence of protest in our day to day lives.We will be incorporating these items into a number of artistic pieces which will make up an exhibition that will run alongside the No Words project.

Join writer Louise Page and explore the images produced by women before and during the war. Discover how they recorded and responded to the need to document the female experience and how it has survived for posterity.

All the research discovered by you will be used to develop a new play which will be performed later in the year.
