But fear not! Comedian Edy Hurst (as seen on NextUp, BBC Radio 4, BBC Upload) is here to defend the earth and finish the century old story! You’re welcome! Selflessly sifting through the endless array of remakes, reboots, reimaginations and rip offs to create an hour of ‘delightfully silly songs’ (the Wee review). Think Tenacious D meets H.G. Wells. Finally.
Following debut show Hurst Schmurst (“Bursts with Comedy Joy” ★ ★ ★ ★ The Skinny) Manchester Musical Comedy Edy Hurst is taking to task the world of invasion, adaptations and pop-culture with a clash of lo-fi props and musical comedy that has seen him nominated for the BBC New Comedy award, Finalist in the Musical Comedy Awards, and Nominated for ‘Best Alternative Act’ at the North West Comedy Awards.
This is Edy’s first time at Buxton Fringe, and regularly performs here and across the country since 2013, with the show going on to Manchester, Knaresborough, Durham and Edinburgh Fringe following successful shows at Leicester Comedy Festival and a VALT Festival transfer to the Museum of Comedy. During lock down there was an accompanying tangent heavy audiobook podcast which has been heard across the world, topping the sci-fi charts in Bermuda. Really. Listen here.
