Local Dancer returns to Midlands with Joss Arnott Dance

On Thursday 1 February Joss Arnott Dance presents a Triple Bill featuring
the internationally award-winning ‘V’

Joss Arnott Dance is making waves in the contemporary dance world, bringing fresh ideas, epic staging, wow-factor performances and novel collaborations, alongside Grammy award-winning musicians, to stage both nationally and internationally.

Their latest Triple Bill performance will see them stage two brand new dance works, A Movement in 3 and RUSH, alongside internationally award-winning piece ‘V’ performed at Déda with live music for the very first time.

The company prides itself on using performers, musicians, composers and designers to create shows which appeal to a range of audiences including those who are completely new to dance. Featuring an all-female cast, choreographer Joss aims to highlight the company’s strength and athleticism in their work.

Amongst the five-strong cast of professional dancers is local dancer Eileih Muir. Born and raised in Derby, Eileih attended Ockbrook school before training at London Studio Centre whereupon she found her interest in contemporary dance. Having spent her first professional years exploring different aspects of her career, including immersive theatre, dance for film and opera, Eileih secured an apprenticeship with National Dance Company Wales before joining the acclaimed Richard Alston Dance Company and, later, Joss Arnott Dance in 2015.

Joss Arnott said ‘It’s extraordinary. I have an extremely talented and charismatic company, many of whom I have been fortunate to work with for a number of years. The company are all very different but complement each other, allowing each piece to create a spectacle of its own onstage.’

The atmosphere created by the company’s live shows led one recent audience member to describe them as ‘dramatic, fierce and totally rock and roll’.  Bolstered by sold-out runs, and packed full of young dancers and companies taught by Joss through his extensive education and outreach work, the company has found a huge national following and is making waves in the industry.

Tickets to see their incredible Triple Bill cost £12 (£10 concession) and can be purchased at Déda’s Box Office on 01332 370911 or at www.deda.uk.com. The performance takes place on Thursday 1 February at 7.30pm at Déda, Derby’s creative centre for Dance, Contemporary Circus and Outdoor Work, for one night only.
