Local Buxton REC Youth Theatre Company are taking THREE shows to the Buxton Festival Fringe

This year REC Youth Theatre will be returning to the Buxton Fringe Festival with three exciting shows!

‘SMALL FRY’ by Neil Duffield

Performed by our Young REC-ers (performers are 6-10 years of age)

Imagine a time and place where rules are simple and few: take what you want, trust no-one and all that matters is money. In this time and place of predators, scavengers and dragons, can the Small Frys beat the bullies and change the rules?
St Thomas More School 15, 16 Jul 5:30pm to 6:30pm

‘TWICE UPON A TIME’ by Neil Duffield
Performed by Junior Company (performers are 10-14 years of age)

A tale from a distant future. The shape shifting Cailleach deceives a young warrior into entering the Otherworld, a place where a single moment can equal eternity. Can he cross back over the border to his world and the girl he knows from his dreams?
St Thomas More School 9, 10 & 15, 16 Jul 7:30pm to 9pm

‘ZERO FOR YOUNG DUDES’ by Alistair McDowall

Performed by Senior Company (performers are 14 – 18+ years of age)
The inmates at a bizarre summer camp are plotting a revolution. Or has it already happened? Spend a day watching their schedule of exercise, lessons and meals. A long history of unrest and injustice lies hidden, and a violent future looms large on the horizon. From the multi-award-winning Fringe regulars.
Underground at the Arts Centre Studio 11 Jul 7:15pm to 8:15pm, 12 & 18 Jul 5:45pm to 6:45pm

On all three productions the companies have worked with local theatre company Babbling Vagabonds on set design, costumes and the making of a large Dragon puppet and a variety of masks.

REC Youth Theatre Company is an all-inclusive theatre company for the young performers of Buxton and surrounding areas. The Youth Theatre (which has been running for over twenty years now) has three companies. The Young REC-ers (ages 6-10), the Junior Company (10-14) and the Senior Company (14 – 18+). All three companies are made up of local young performers and a few who come slightly further afield. At the heart of our work is the idea of ensemble and giving each member an opportunity develop their creativity through exciting workshops, classes and opportunities.

The young performers are incredible creative and work so hard with fun and enjoyment had by all.

We are very proud of them all and have so much more to tell you about them and the work we do.

If you would be interested in learning a little more about REC or the forthcoming shows, we would love to have a chat with you or invite you along to our rehearsals so you could meet some of our company members and see some of the work we do.
