The Hannells Darley Park Concert

The Hannells Darley Park Concert

Derby City Council is pleased to announce that Hannells will be the headline sponsor for this year’s Darley Park Concert. The Concert will be taking place on Sunday 3 September in the stunning natural amphitheatre of Darley Park.

The new deal with Hannells Estates Agents will mean that Derby LIVE can offer a reduced early bird ticket offer of £2.50 with under 16s able to access free tickets. The much loved concert will return this year after a year’s break and, in addition to Hannells as the headline sponsor, will also be supported by Flint Bishop Solicitors, HUUB, Mortgage Advice Bureau, PKF Cooper Parry, Specsavers and Stratstone BMW Derby.

This new partnership marks a big step forward in securing the long term future of the Concert. It is a part of the Council’s 50 Pledges to take Derby forwards and a new approach to funding cultural events. So far it has seen success by delivering the Cathedral Quarter 3aaa Christmas Ice Rink on a multi-year deal.

Paul Robinson, Chief Executive of Derby City Council, said: “Last month Derby City Council pledged to deliver a programme of affordable events, including The Darley Park Concert and St George’s Day. We are very pleased that by working with Hannells Estate Agents and our other supporters that we are delivering on this pledge.”

Michael Brain, Managing Director of Hannells, said: “Hannells are delighted to be able to be involved this year, in bringing back The Hannells Darley Park Concert. The concert has been one of the most popular cultural events in the calendar for over 20 years, and all our co-sponsors, Flint Bishop Solicitors, HUUB, Mortgage Advice Bureau, PKF Cooper Parry, Specsavers and Stratstone BMW Derby all had no hesitation in coming forward and  sponsoring this event alongside Hannells. We are all Derby-based companies and all share the same ethos of giving back to the communities we serve and live in. This year is the 40th anniversary of Derby becoming a city, and we are excited at being able to be bringing this event back to the people of Derby. Our involvement has meant that we are now able to offer a low entrance fee for those attending and because of the celebrations of this our 40th year as a city, I’m sure the event will be even more spectacular than ever before.”

“Myself and Alison Brain from Hannells and all the other sponsors, feel it is the right time to bring this event back. We hope that we can be involved with this event for future years to come.”

Hannells is one of Derby’s most recognisable “home-grown” brands with core values of customer service and innovation. They have an extensive network of Derby branches, strategically placed throughout the Derby suburbs allowing them to provide a great level of service and local knowledge. Their mission is to get the best price possible, in the shortest time with the least amount of stress.

As in previous years Derby favourites, Sinfonia Viva, the Orchestra of the East Midlands, who are supported by Rolls-Royce will be performing at the concert. Concert-goers will have the chance to be involved in helping to choose some of the pieces that feature within the programme this year. Derby LIVE and Sinfonia Viva are running an online vote to enable the public to choose their favourite piece of music from past concerts to be performed at this year’s concert, chosen from a shortlist of 10. The top three will then form part of the programme. Members of the public can vote until 5pm on Fri 12 May at www.derbylive.co.uk/darleyvote

Peter Helps, Chief Executive of Sinfonia Viva said “We’re delighted to be returning home to Darley Park and are looking forward to working with all of our partners on this newly invigorated event.”
